First time was always when I was in hospital having the next one! Youngest was about 4 I think, stayed with grandparents when I took 2 of my older dc to the harry potter studio tour.

DC 1 - have left him twice overnight, once with MIL for our 10th anniversary when he was 18 months and once with my dad when I was in labour with DC2 when he was 2

DC2 is 2 and haven't left him.

I would love a night away with DH but we don't have anyone to have them. My ILs live abroad and my parents couldn't handle both kids very easily ( and also haven't offered). We have friends who probably would if we asked but they don't know the kids well enough for us to feel comfortable

@MarceyMc

In the politest possible way OP, I really don't see the point in these threads because it doesn't matter what anyone else did, only what you feel comfortable with. FWIW DD went for a sleepover with grandparents at 8 months and it was absolute bliss. It would have been earlier had it not been for lockdown - we have a very close relationship with both sets of grandparents and she has stayed over numerous times since.
In the politest possible way, we are all different and actually the thread has really helped me. Thanks everyone for your responses !

About 18-24 months old

I haven't wanted to yet. They are 4

DS1 was 22 months, left with my parents, DS2 was 16 months, left both with PIL. Both times were for friend's child-free weddings - I was a bridesmaid at both so it was difficult to get out of! I was so worried as neither are good sleepers, especially DS1, but they went out and had busy days (beach/zoo) so they settled easily. They woke in the night but it wasn't the end of the world. They certainly didn't resent us when we got home!! It probably helped that they see both sets of grandparents regularly. It was also great for DH and I to be able to have a night away. I found it easier the second time than the first, but I still woke up as usual at 5.30am!!

Every night since he was born. My son was born very early and is in the SCBU. Whilst they do allow us to visit overnight there is no space for sleeping/rest, so they provide me with accommodation over the road.

@herculesoffline Thanks hoping your son is home with you soon. My good friends son was born at 23 weeks and was in hospital for months, it was a very hard time but is now a distant memory as he's 6 now Smile

herculesoffline Same here - it's very very tough, sending very best wishes to you and hope little one gets better soon

I don’t remember. More than 1, less than 2. With grandparents.
