Went to Tesco the other day and noticed the tubs of Roses and QS at the front, which only means one thing!

I've made a start on a few small gifts, DH thinks I'm crazy and it's far too early. Please tell me I'm not the only one planning in August? ☃️🎄🎁

I haven’t actually purchased anything yet but I’m definitely starting the ‘lists’.

I usually just blitz the present buying in one day but I really want this Christmas to be calm & special.

RubyJam · 22/08/2021 09:42

Never too early , if I had more space to store items I would definitely buy things and put them away for Christmas now.

ByThePool2021 · 22/08/2021 09:45

I’ve written my lists out of what to buy for the dc and am hopefully going to get it all when I get paid at the end of the month. I do the stockings, advent calendars, little bits etc. Dh will buy the main gift off the wish lists in December. I like to have it all done and out of the way so I can relax and enjoy the season without the stress of worrying what still to but

CuteOrangeElephant · 22/08/2021 09:50

I bought DDs main present in January! You can never be too early. I am not even crazy about Christmas, but I hate last minute stress so when I see a good deal I will just buy it.

The record was a wooden castle I bought when DD was six months old, she finally got it the Christmas after she turned 3 Smile .

OurChristmasMiracle · 22/08/2021 09:52

Yep I already have a stash under my sofa of presents. It makes it much more financially manageable to just do it throughout the year tbh

ReginaaPhalange · 22/08/2021 09:53

Never too organised! I'm due my baby in January and have been told I have a risk of premature labour, so DH and I getting everything sorted within the next couple of months. Can never be too early :) I usually aim to finish Christmas shopping by end of November so that I can enjoy the festive season! This year will be different with us with a baby on the way and a nursery etc so sort before then too :)

CoffeeAndDryShampoo · 22/08/2021 09:54

Never too early! Pop over to the Christmas board, plenty of bargains and Christmas cheer over there all year round!

CuteOrangeElephant · 22/08/2021 09:54

Yes that's true too OurChristmasMiracle. I never really get stressed about finances around Christmas because it's naturally spread throughout the year.

I also really like having the presents early because it means even if we get unexpected large bills or anything like that I know that DD is sorted.

TheatricalGiraffe · 22/08/2021 09:56

I'm about half done..

It always makes me giggle how the "it's too early" crowd are always the ones running around on Christmas eve/week of Christmas complaining they can't find what they want or the shops are too busy or what they're after is out of stock..

Sips tea with my fully done pile of presents bought at half price before they put all the prices up for christmas

Hardploc · 22/08/2021 09:57

Definitely not too early

SchrodingersImmigrant · 22/08/2021 09:58

I already have a list of presents to buy and half way through planned food list😂 In my family we start early because flights need booking. Then there is this few weeks of Chrostmas planning override and then it's left alone until the time comes.
It allows me to go and slowly build up food cumpboard, presents etc without having to stress about anything.

UsernameTaken76 · 22/08/2021 10:00

List have been started here and I’ve ticked 3 people off my list so far. I find it less stressful to spread out the shopping and cost

Pinkfluffyunicornsandrainbows · 22/08/2021 10:03

There's no such thing as buying for Christmas too early, it's always better to be organised than dashing around like crazy in the days/weeks before Christmas.
Happy shopping 🎅🏻🎄🎁

Zealois · 22/08/2021 10:07

I save throughout the year so that it's not as painful when I start buying nearer to Christmas. I also started a list about a week ago with gift ideas for different people as they pop into my head.

TreaslakeandBack · 22/08/2021 10:07

I will be starting once DS goes back to school in September. I like to have done all the presents by December.

Queenie6655 · 22/08/2021 10:08

Finished my kids Xmas shopping yesterday

45 pounds in total

Love love love Home bargains !!!!

WeirdCatLady · 22/08/2021 10:08

I always start after dd’s birthday in August. Got my Amazon wish list going, and planning my decorations Xmas Grin

kaleidoscopeheartless · 22/08/2021 10:09

I've bought all my kids big presents and most of other peoples too. Like to spread it out throughout the year and not in one big hit.

Eclairesarethebest · 22/08/2021 10:09

I usually start in July!
This year I've cut back majorly and just buying for my DC and DP rather than the entire families so have a bit of extra time before I need to start buying.

MrsPumpkinSeed · 22/08/2021 10:10

I've my kids presents done (will just get stocking fillers but I love doing that so will take my time)
I will buy food items from Halloween onwards. We don't buy much more than we already use anyway.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 22/08/2021 10:11

Yes, I aim to be done before Halloween for all gifts. I buy throughout the year as I see good offers or things I know people will love. Start getting food treats in September and book the food delivery as soon as slots open. I do it all online so it allows time for delivery etc.

cantstayaway21 · 22/08/2021 10:14

Ive got 4 dc so started last month. already got two big presents and completely finished for one. How much do people spent on there dc?

cantstayaway21 · 22/08/2021 10:16

dd birthday is on the 27th so another reason to start early!!

FinallyHere · 22/08/2021 10:16

Couldn't even start thinking about it, until after the bank holiday. Then, the first step is to coordinate with family who will hosting, over the whole period.

We do already have tickets for a Christmas show aimed at the younger members.

Anycrispsleft · 22/08/2021 10:17

Absolutely not U. I have a big interview coming up this week and our kids are still in holiday so I won't get anything done until September but I totally approve of your efficiency!

All the summer loving people seem to start talking about holidays from about 2 Jan onwards, so why shouldn't we do the same?

I have high hopes for this autumn. The unlockdowning was all a little too late for us in the holidays but here's hoping it'll now remain relatively easy to travel in Europe. I might get back to the UK for the first time in 2 years this autumn. The kids will be full time in school again. It's soon going to be all cold and crisp...
