Sundried tomatoes?!

Soggy, vinegary monstrosities…

I love them - they should never taste of vinegar!

2andahalfpints · 18/08/2021 20:19

I love both! 😂

LimeRedBanana · 18/08/2021 20:19

For me, they have a grim metallic aftertaste, redolent of vinegar.

OrangeVelour · 18/08/2021 20:22

I hate them too. They're all seeds and skin, and far too chewy.

UsernameNotAvailableApparently · 18/08/2021 20:25

I’m shocked that so many of you like them!

I love them, but only the oily ones, but the dried out chewy ones.

youdoyoutoday · 18/08/2021 20:29

Yeah, I get it! I spent a fortune on one dinner of antipasti, hams, salami, sundried tomatoes, artichoke hearts yada yada yada..... have to admit, I was really disappointed in the tomatoes and artichokes but the bread and meats made me very happy.
I've recently just discovered a spicy nduja paste and my life is incomplete without it, I'm craving it like I'm pregnant!!

shouldistop · 18/08/2021 20:30

We use them to make bolognese but I wouldn't eat them out the jar

Anoisagusaris · 18/08/2021 20:34

Nice sundried tomatoes are lovely. Some jarred ones or dry ones are rank.

And Parma ham is gorgeous!

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 18/08/2021 20:45

They are one of my very favourite foods

Theimpossiblegirl · 18/08/2021 20:51

I read it as Santa's ballsacks!

Dorisdaydream2 · 18/08/2021 20:51

Love them both. I’m now imagining how good sun dried tomatoes would taste wrapped in Parma ham! Grin

godmum56 · 18/08/2021 20:59

vinegary? I only ever buy the dry kind or the kind in oil

Ugzbugz · 18/08/2021 21:19

Both delicious 😋

JuliaBlackberry · 18/08/2021 21:32

My DH and DD love them. I am with you, they're slimy and weird and I hate them

jelly79 · 18/08/2021 21:41

Love them! Have them in pasta regularly

BasicB · 18/08/2021 21:42

YANBU. I love Parma ham though

BrightYellowDaffodil · 18/08/2021 21:56

YABVU. I don't know what you've been eating but the heaven that is sun-dried tomatoes should never be chewy or vinegary.

And Parma ham is just...ooh, lovely. That saltiness with the meatiness. Give me a plate of sun-dried tomatoes, some Parma ham, olives, capers, anchovies, some sort of cheese and some bread, and I'm a very happy girl.

Dasher789 · 18/08/2021 21:59

I like sun dried tomatoes but I hate Parma ham. My mum used to give us it with melon. Whoever came up with that combination?!

Lollypop701 · 18/08/2021 22:02

Tomato’s of every variation. Same for Parma ham. Yum. Anchovies and mussels 🤢

Craftycorvid · 18/08/2021 22:03

YANBU - nasty things, resemble blood clots. Mind you, Satan’s ballsacks wins! Grin

georgarina · 18/08/2021 22:04

The one thing I cannot eat. I actually heave when I taste them.

TerraNovaTwo · 18/08/2021 22:10

YABVU. Sundried tomatoes are one of my most favourite things to eat. I just love antipasti with freshly baked bread and olive oil and balsamic to dip into.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 18/08/2021 22:14

Yes! WTF! I thought they would be sweet and lovely, bit no. Fucking awful.
Yes to parma ham aswell. I honestly can still like a pig farm smell on it. Although I've never tried it cooked. What do you have with it?

FrenchBulldogsareFab · 18/08/2021 22:18

Sun dried tomatoes and cheese bread. Use my breadmaker machine thingy and everyone devours. Inexpensive, use Parmesan or very strong cheddar.
