To think DH should be helping at least a couple morning per week?

DH’s work hours have changed during the 6 weeks holidays, meaning he’s now leaving for work a lot later in the morning, and leaving work much earlier in the afternoon than he usually would.

We have 3DC’s (4, 3 and almost 2) and the youngest has started waking around 5am to start their day, which I’m not going to lie, is exhausting. However, it’s being made worse by the fact I’m getting up with all the dc, while DH is staying in bed until 7:30/8 (sometimes later than that!), then heading off to work, only for him to leave work around 2:45/3, so his time at work is averaging about 5-6 hours at the moment.

Given he’s currently doing much shorter hours, am I being unreasonable to expect him to help out at least one or two mornings per week?

Who lays in bed until 2pm? He can’t possibly be asleep.
So many threads on this subject.
I honestly don’t know the answer. How can someone, man or woman lie in bed, or squat on the sofa while watching someone who they profess to love running themselves ragged?

If his hours have changed due to the school holidays then so should yours!
I never understand why couples don't just communicate. Just tell him you're exhausted and he's being unfair staying in bed!
Either that or send the kids into him every morning.

Well I do hope you return to work, be a good role model for your DC and show that men and woman can do an equal share and its not 'mummy' job to do all the cleaning and child care whilst daddy bear pops to work and returns waiting for his tea

He shouldn't be ‘helping’, he should just be parenting his children.

@ShallWeStartTheMeeting

Getting up at 2PM on a Sunday is ridiculous. Once you have kids you can't just lie in like a teenager.
This. 8am is get up time on designated lie in day on our house 😂. He needs to do more, you need to stop feeling like you don't have a right to ask because you don't work outside the house at the moment.

I still do childcare at the start and end of the days where I’m working. My partner is up and out of the house early around 5am so on my working days I do all the wake up routine / dressing and breakfast by myself before taking her to childcare and then starting work 9am. I then pick her up and sort snack / play / bath and bed etc before he gets home. Working does not give you a free pass to avoid looking after your child.

On the days my partner is off he usually gets up with child and sorts breakfast and we alternate who does bedtime. There’s got to be some balance in tasks.
