Why does Mumsnet frequently pull threads off?

It seems very micro management. I was reading a really informative thread today and it has been pulled.

For a site that allows swearing, it is super sensitive. They will also say they are checking things in the background but I have never seen a thread put back on.

It’s just petty.

Hi EddyF,

It's a valid question - Mumsnet is well known for it's high swear-count afterall!

We can remove threads for a variety of reasons; users being identified in real life, legal cases being prejudiced by speculation, trolls or reverse posters who may be goading others to behave badly. We try to limit the amount of threads we remove as we do recognise we can lose useful, interesting content, as you say.

Be reassured we do reinstate threads at times too - it really does happen. Often we just need a little time to check things out before we can put the thread back with confidence.

Hope that helps explain a little.
