...is really rather sexy in Midsomer Murders.
Is this something I can repeat outloud in public?
Anyone else have an eye for him or any other actor not usually considered 'hot'?

@robotcollision

If we're talking fictional detective types I'd rather have Jason Isaacs as Jackson Brodie than boring old Barnaby.

Join the queue.

I think you'll find that I am at the front of that queue. "Jackson Brodie" followed me on Twitter.

(As part of publicity for the show, a Twitter account was created for the character. I followed 'him" and "he" returned the favour.)

For Jason Isaacs/Jackson Brodie fans.

When this was available, it was crazy expensive so I never bought it. Jason Isaacs reading three Jackson Brodie novels.

@LobotomisedIceSkatingFan

How the fuck was Joyce long-suffering? I'm sure the writers didn't give her a job so she could flit from evening class (painting) to evening class (welding) in order to provide a new setting and rosta of suspects for the murders. But all she had to do was be a housewife and she was pisspoor at that: couldn't cook; couldn't deal with tradesmen. I've just seen an episode where poor old JN has to get home in time to deal with the window fitters, or something. Why couldn't she do that, the lazy sow?
Totally agree. She was a right nag and a pain. Every episode she had a new hobby: painting, singing, campanology. Tired to drag Barnaby into it despite no interest and then... someone in that group is murdered. Fucking coincidence eh Joyce?! Barnaby is clearly covering up her killing spree.

Also coincidence that Cully's inability to hold down a job meant she flitted from one thing to another (estate agent, travel agent, horse whisperer) and somehow seemed to obtain the big piece of evidence that sealed the murderers conviction due to that job.

All in it together these lot. Disgusting.

Any extra-old people on here? He was Nerys Hughes' boyfriend in The Liver Birds in the 60s.

It was the 70s actually & I remember it well & I'm not "extra old" thank you very much 🙄

Germolenequeen · 15/08/2021 21:34

1972 he joined 😉

Of course Grin

@LadyTiredWinterBottom2

Steve in Keeping Faith 🤫🤭🙈 what is wrong with me?!
Mum? Is that you? If not- my mum def agrees with you on Steve Baldini being fanciable!

YANBU OP- there's something rather alluring about JN. Although I wouldn't say no to Sgt Jones, either. I rather enjoy repeats of the episode where we get to watch him shower Blush. Troy's a bit drippy for me.

I have also had the pleasure of watching JN in panto. King Rat in Dick Whittington. He was brilliant. Some of the "names" are clearly there for the pay cheque and visibly watching the clock in panto; he took it seriously, turned in a star performance and delighted the audience and looked like he was really enjoying himself!

Also agree with Pp that Tom Barnaby wasn't that good a copper though. He clearly missed Joyce, his own very annoying wife, knocking off at least 2 people in every group/club/society/hobby she joined- and attempting to probably poison him and cunty Cully with her god awful cooking. Although perhaps that's also why Joycey didn't have a day job; between simpers and enthusiasms she kept him in business instead. Sneaky Joyce. What's the betting that where ever they've retired to now, she's spend the pandemic being a lethal, below the radar fucking super-spreader whilst pretending to care?

Doublestar · 16/08/2021 02:50

No. I watched midsomer murders the other day and I hate the way he talks with his teeth clenched. Wasn't he told to relax his mouth at acting school? A young Orlando Bloom was in the episode though - he's the only reason I watched it - yum!

Thatstheway · 16/08/2021 03:41

^^ I was coming to say he fills a pair of tights perfectly (king Rat) & he was fantastic in the show. Proper job!

MrsToothyBitch · 16/08/2021 07:20

@Doublestar I love that episode! Orlando Bloom gets pitchforked!

Oldsu · 16/08/2021 07:32

I have always liked him, I met him once my husband who is a designer made a special video cover when my collection was on video JN signed it for me and spent five minutes looking at the cover and discussing it. He was lovely so charming and friendly.

Oldsu · 16/08/2021 07:46

BTW I often wondered if he got the part because his ex wife (also called Joyce ) was casting director
