CBeebies, is it just me …

Or is it becoming horribly dumbed down and turning into Milkshake?
The presenters just shriek and dance around at every opportunity with no sense of rapport with their audience imho. Most of the programmes are now animation with no interaction with the children watching.
I yearn for Sid, Pui and Chris, please come back.
I do like Katy and Rebecca though.

Not a fan of CBeebies, I can’t bear the presenting and interaction. Much prefer nick jr or Netflix where there’s non of that fake nicety shit! Plus we’re Peppa mad here 😂

Winemewhynot · 09/08/2021 19:39

Although we do like telletubbies and postman pat but get those on iplayer!

Allthesefolks · 09/08/2021 19:49

Im not a huge fan of the between programme bits although I have soft spots for Ben and Nigel, they’re just so lovely!

My eldest has gone through various obsessions as she’s grown (Teletubbies, Night Garden, Duggee, Mr Tumble, Octonauts etc.) and Yakka Dee really helped her speech when she was about 2.

The baby now loves Duggee and they both like Bluey (the Nanas episode is genius!) so I think we’ll get a few good more years out of it. The Playtime Island app has also provided hours of entertainment, so all worth the license fee IMO.

I’m not into the live productions unless they have Mr. Bloom in them as I have a weird crush on him Blush

Winecheesesleep · 09/08/2021 19:56

Love Cbeebies and feel a bit sad my DC are starting to get too old for it. Genuinely programmes like Numberblocks, Alphablocks, Bitz and Bob, Do You Know, Tinpo, Go Jetters taught them so much.

I really like the presenters, Rebecca and Katie are my favourites.

Pebbledashery · 09/08/2021 19:59

Ohh love Sidney Sloane.
Honestly detest every presenter on there. Particularly Evie. God. Shut up.

Azilliondegrees · 09/08/2021 20:19

My children are going through (another) obsession with Topsy and Tim at the moment. Even the theme tune is triggering for me. What a bloody awful programme, nauseating.

And I also have a problem where any time anyone at work informs me that they have an idea I then get that idea song from Molly and Mack stuck in my head all day Sad

Caliexpidocioussuper · 09/08/2021 20:35

You’re doing CBeebies all wrong. You turn it on and then, here’s the important bit, LEAVE THE ROOM. Its designed so you can go and put some washing on/have a poo/cook dinner. HTH.

Daisychainsandglitter · 09/08/2021 21:02

I have a very nearly 7 year old and a 3 year old.
We don't watch nearly as much CBeebies now DD1 is getting a bit older but DD2 absolutely loves Bluey. Her cousin (4) also loves Bluey. Seems very popular with that age group!

Oh my DC2 is too old for CBebbies but she loves Molly and Mack. Recently I dropped a jar of beetroot at work and started singing the Opps song. Lucky my ci workers didn't get me committed.

Agreed.

Clearly a West End Wanna Be.

Laiste · 09/08/2021 21:26

My 7 year old loves Bluey.

It's a nice gentle program, but it's given DD the impression that the dad on there is some sort of bench mark. DH wants a bit of peace when he gets in (he's a softy, 15 mins only) and DD had finally learned to let him be for a bit before starting Daaaaaaaad? The advent of Bluey has set us back about 3 years! Hmm

ThirdElephant · 09/08/2021 22:16

Bluey is horrific. The parents are permissive past the point of sanity, the kids are all awful, and my daughter now calls our toilet the 'dunny'

Do you reckon? I don't find the parents permissive- you see them enforce boundaries a few times. Mum refuses to let Bluey stay up, even when Bluey says she's not tired and can't sleep, Dad refuses to play games with Bluey until she resolves an argument with Bingo, Dad doesn't let the kids play in the sun without suncream on, they expect the kids to clean up their playroom and Mum makes Bingo mop up the muddy footprints she leaves on the floor. There are quite a few examples. They use natural consequences rather than enforcing a punishment-style system, but that's a legitimate parenting style.

I've also never seen them refer to the toilet as a dunny Confused

PressuresOn · 09/08/2021 22:22

@Helendee

I love Hamza (Let’s Go For A Walk), he’s great with the kids and appears to be a lovely guy.
I came on to say this ! He’s so lovely !
Polkadots2021 · 09/08/2021 22:26

Massive Andy Fan, love the days of the week song and what's on your plate song, Mr Tumble, Hey Duggee, Apple Tree House, Gigglebiz. Actually some of the Gigglebiz characters are pure genius. And back in the day, Cloud Babies. Lol. Not watched in the house anymore but those were lovely memories.

She's got an idea...

YABU for liking Numberjacks. Absolutely terrifying broadcasting.
Grin Yes it is! That scary laugh.....

Slightly OTT reaction there.

It's not possible to hate Ben.

Marmite27 · 09/08/2021 22:28

@Helendee

Everyone loves Bluey it seems. I’m not drawn to animation preferring actors actually ‘interacting’ with the children.
YABVVVU. Bluey is awesome!
Nanny0gg · 09/08/2021 22:28

Hey Duggee rules.

Timmy Time was brilliant until they added narration.

Boredmotherofone · 09/08/2021 22:29

I wish my DD (6) would watch CBeebies :( She categorically refuses. It's allllll about the Youtubers driving around in their Teslas, showing off their big homes they've bought from all the millions they've made from making videos of themselves playing hide & seek Confused

Sid is great.

He’s lively to the children after his live shows. End
Endlessly patient

Nanny0gg · 09/08/2021 22:30

*lovely

Sandalsintherain · 09/08/2021 22:32

@Royalbloo

YANBU the worst is baby club - STOP BLOWING BUBBLES INDOORS!

"What's in the bag...."
"Cyanide?"

Grin Baby Club. Most patronising piece of shit show ever. Now you've realised you can get a moments respite by plonking your baby in front of the telly, why don't you get up off your fat lazy arse and get yourself to a real baby club?
Wafflehouse · 09/08/2021 22:32

My two haven’t watched CBeebies for a little while, although they do still put hey duggee on iPlayer every now and then. I just had a look through the tv planner for tomorrow to see what it looks like now and everything is so short, 5 mins or 10 mins, I don’t remember it being like that. There used to be slightly longer programmes on during the day like Balamory, let’s play, show me show me.

Tickly · 09/08/2021 22:33

@dreamygirl25

I love a cbeebies thread! Cbeebies has improved a lot because of Bluey. I absolutely love Bluey!!! I can't agree with show me show me.... Argh
Yes!!! Bluey.
