Embarrassing weight issue at soft play

Oifroggy · 05/08/2021 20:38

I've booked a soft play inflatable place for DS and I to go to tomorrow. It's only after that I realised in the terms of play - participants must be under 16 stone when clothed.

I have recently lost a lot of weight and this week hit 15 stone 10 but that was in the morning, without clothes. I'm sat worrying that I'm going to ruin this special day for DS if they won't let me on. How do they know anyway? Do they weigh people? I'm so embarrassed just thinking about it BlushSad
@maggiesfarm why make this comment? I've already stated that my son has SEN. Anyway, it is for adults too as they have adult only sessions later in the evening.
I'm so sorry Oifroggy. I didn't mean anything harsh, wasn't thinking.

Have a wonderful time with your son op, and well done on your weight loss so far Flowers

PluggingAway · 05/08/2021 23:23

They won't weigh you. No chance.

Also, as a PP has said, the actual weight limit will be over what they have stated.

Go and enjoy.

@Maggiesfarm

Surely parents don't go on soft play equipment? It's for the children, not mum and dad.
You speak for yourself! I love it lol
Rinoachicken · 05/08/2021 23:46

I always get stuck in soft play - boobs are too big for the rollers!

Maggiesfarm · 05/08/2021 23:48

I've just never come across it before Rachie. 'Soft play' didn't exist as an established activity when mine were young. However I do (now) understand why the op is going to join in, I hope she enjoys it.

Who knows, I might have enjoyed it had it been available. I love swings, can't get me off one if I have the opportunity, so why not soft play?

Ozanj · 05/08/2021 23:58

They focus more on men at these places when it comes to enforcement so don’t worry. Some guys go crazy - so many dad’s have destabalised a slide at our local softplay by jumping on it from a trampoline.

NoSquirrels · 06/08/2021 00:04

I know exactly the type of place you mean, OP - more ‘inflatables’ than soft play? If it’s the franchise I’m thinking if (cos I read the T&Cs earlier this week!) I’m 100% sure you won’t be queried and will have a good time. Great workout, too!

GNCQ · 06/08/2021 00:04

I've been to softplay loads (before pandemic isolation etc).
Never once have I been asked my weight or heard of anyone being weighed.

I also never ate my clothes before going.

Walkoflife · 06/08/2021 00:10

Hi I doubt that they will weigh you but anyway if there are any issues just state that your son needs supervision due to his SEN so you need to go on with him.

Just for info We have a similar place here and sometimes they do relaxed session where parent/carer goes on for free.

We go to the relaxed sessions with our boys as eldest has autism and these sessions are normally quieter.

Hope you and your son have a great time!

PaddleBlue · 06/08/2021 00:41

No bloody way they would get the scales out and I can’t imagine them asking “are you under 16 stone” either. Go and have fun Smile and well done with your weight loss!!

TheWatersofMarch · 06/08/2021 20:12

They won't even ask, the real limit will be higher than 16stone and you don't even weigh that. Hope you and your son have a great time xxx

When I read your comment I wondered whether you had ever actually been to soft play.

Drinking coffee while the kids play is the dream. Getting dragging round ("mummy, come and help meeeeeee") is the unbearable reality.

kcha30 · 06/08/2021 21:05

I doubt they would weigh you. Probably just take your word for it. They say under 16 Stone - which you are - wear light clothes. You could probably go a stone or two over 16 Stone on them and be fine. . Probably just insurance reasons!

Shelby2010 · 06/08/2021 21:31

Hope you & DS enjoyed yourselves!

Gonewiththegin · 06/08/2021 21:36

You will be absolutely fine OP. They certainly won’t have scales and I doubt they’ll care in the slightest what weight you are. They will have to state that information on the website and waiver for healthy and safety reasons I assume. Hope you both have a great time!

RavingAnnie · 06/08/2021 22:15

@Fernando072020

I can't imagine they'll weigh you but they may ask if it's company policy. I would eat the lightest clothes you have and have a lighter breakfast. You should stay under the 16. Don't worry about it, I'm sure it'll be just fine!
I don't think eating her clothes is going to help matters 😬
RavingAnnie · 06/08/2021 22:17

How did it go OP? Was it OK? 🤞🏻
