Embarrassing weight issue at soft play

Oifroggy · 05/08/2021 20:38

I've booked a soft play inflatable place for DS and I to go to tomorrow. It's only after that I realised in the terms of play - participants must be under 16 stone when clothed.

I have recently lost a lot of weight and this week hit 15 stone 10 but that was in the morning, without clothes. I'm sat worrying that I'm going to ruin this special day for DS if they won't let me on. How do they know anyway? Do they weigh people? I'm so embarrassed just thinking about it BlushSad

The only times I've ever seen peopled weighed were at things like parachuting and bungee jumping. Although thinking about it, I saw a larger person being weighed at an over water assault course thing, but all of those activities involved harnesses or parachutes or bungee cords, so weight was really important.

I really cant see them weighing people for soft play

@Fernando072020

I can't imagine they'll weigh you but they may ask if it's company policy. I would eat the lightest clothes you have and have a lighter breakfast. You should stay under the 16. Don't worry about it, I'm sure it'll be just fine!
I'm not sure how eating her clothes will help...Grin
Oifroggy · 05/08/2021 21:29

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments. I think I'm just worrying because I'm only 4lbs away from the limit. I don't want to let my little boy down Smile

They won't weigh you. I think they publish a weight limit to enable them to ask very overweight people not to go on the equipment. If there was no published weight limit they couldn't do this.

In reality they probably wouldn't bat an eyelid at quite a margin above 16 stone.

Chibbles · 05/08/2021 21:35

Are you positive that adults are allowed on at the same time as kids?

We have a place like this that adults can hire out in the evenings, but no adults are allowed on the equipment when small kids are on it. If a kid gets stuck one of the staff goes on to help them, but no parents are allowed on.

Might be worth checking?

Oifroggy · 05/08/2021 21:38

@chibbles yes, from the reviews and pictures, they are. It doesn't look like just random adults jumping during the day, just parents having fun with their children.

No way would they weigh you- can you imagine?! People would be up in arms.

Well done on your weight loss and have a fab time with your boy. You sound like an amazing mum.

Oifroggy · 05/08/2021 21:38

There is a seperate section for children age 4 and under...so no one is getting squashed Grin

You’ll be fine, don’t stress. And bloody well done on the weight loss

Tereseta · 05/08/2021 21:42

The actual max weight will be well over what they say. As a pp said, it will be a rule so people massively over that can't use the equipment.
Don't worry and enjoy yourself. I've been on similar with my dd and weigh more than you.

VodkaSlimline · 05/08/2021 21:48

They won't actually weigh you.

I was going to say get on the laxatives but that could lead to far worse soft play embarrassment... Grin

ViceLikeBlip · 05/08/2021 21:56

If I were you I'd walk in there with a massive grin on my face knowing that if they WERE to ask if you're over 16 stone you can for absolute definite, hand on heart, say no you're not! Well done for losing the weight so far xx Ps they won't actually weigh you

Di11y · 05/08/2021 21:56

They're never going to weigh you. It'll be an insurance thing.

AChickenCalledDaal · 05/08/2021 22:02

4lb is really quite a lot. You are absolutely fine. And congratulations on shifting the weight. Enjoy playing with your son Smile.

fluffythedragonslayer · 05/08/2021 22:07

They absolutely definitely won't weigh you. You will be fine.

Ozberry · 05/08/2021 22:08

You’ll be fine. I am a similar weight and it can fluctuate depending on time of day, what I’ve eaten, wearing etc. There will be some give and take in the reasons for dating 16st. The equipment won’t suddenly give in at 16st 1lb.
Go and enjoy yourself!

CocoNoopie · 05/08/2021 22:12

@Maggiesfarm
OP said her child is SEN and may need to be accompanied at times.....

Oifroggy · 05/08/2021 22:13

Your comments have made me smile. I came on in a panic and now I'm smiling. Thank you Smile

Think through the worst possible scenario: they weigh you and they turn you away for being to heavy. It’s disappointing and embarrassing but not life threatening.

Then think about how likely it is that the bored teen on a summer job is going to be eyeing up each customer with a clear idea in their heads of what 16 stone looks like. Very unlikely.

And even if you do get challenged, which you won’t, and they weigh you it’s unlikely you’ll be over the weight limit.

So do it. There’s a 99.99% chance it’ll succeed and if it doesn’t you’ll be alive and able to go another time.

And, if you do miss breakfast then bring a snack.

WhoppingBigBackside · 05/08/2021 22:15

cheesecloth is not made of cheese

robotcollision · 05/08/2021 22:26

Wear linen trousers and a lightweight top. You will be in socks not shoes anyway. You should be fine. They won't weigh you!

VenusTiger · 05/08/2021 22:26

There's simply NO WAY any soft play centre will weigh you OP - it's not a flight and you're not luggage.
Stop worrying.
The policy is there for YOU to check not them.

Staffy1 · 05/08/2021 22:30

Highly unlikely they will weigh you, don’t worry about it.

Staffy1 · 05/08/2021 22:32

Haha, Just stick to the breakfast, don’t eat the clothes.
