As the thread I put up turned down a dark alley, I asked DD’s to ask around their friends what was with the Drynites thing.

Turns out it’s an all-day period thing.

Apparently they don’t leak and feel fresh so if you’re wearing summer stuff like short shorts you’re not going to get blood everywhere and don’t have to worry about changing pad/tampon for much longer.

Who would have thought? DD’s still thought it was odd, but there you go.

Not a fashion thing or kink at all.

I still find it a bit weird.

FelicityBeedle · 27/07/2021 14:57

What did I miss?

TheSunShinesBrighter · 27/07/2021 14:57

Women wearing dry nights? As in nappies?

TheSunShinesBrighter · 27/07/2021 14:57

During their period?

DaphneMoonsSeattle · 27/07/2021 14:58

That's great. All we're missing is the question.

DeflatedGinDrinker · 27/07/2021 14:59

I remember when every kid in my class in high school had a dummy. An actual babies dummy. So this doesn't surprise me.

TheSunShinesBrighter · 27/07/2021 15:01

Or the adult version?
They’re called incontinence knickers. Good for periods too.

SorryWoman · 27/07/2021 15:02

Why wouldn't they just use period pants? It doesn't make any sense at all.

234Pepperplant · 27/07/2021 15:06

Short shorts with a pull up nappy is more comfortable/less revealing than knickers and a tampon?! Or period knickers?

Yeah right. I have a little child using them for their usual purpose - they’re hot, bulky and rustly. I cannot imagine a teen wearing them under some hot pants just so they don’t have to change a pad.

FlibbertyGiblets · 27/07/2021 15:07

Why was your previous thread deleted, do you still have the deletion message?

EarringsandLipstick · 27/07/2021 15:08

You are really invested in this OP.

I saw your other thread too. No shit it turned in an odd direction.

I'm not doubting what you've observed. However, I find it unbelievable that many teenage girls are wearing pull-ups of some form as their solution to heavy periods / leaking. I have a teenageDD. It hasn't reached my part of the world, anyway

I use them on a night time for the first few days of my period. Means I can go to sleep without worrying about ruining yet another sheet or duvet cover and I find because they are stretchy around the waist they're bloody comfy if you're bloated too

cinammonbuns · 27/07/2021 15:11

@SorryWoman you have to wash them and most would want to wash them separate from other clothes. You bin nappies. Teens are lazy.

cinammonbuns · 27/07/2021 15:14

As someone who had a DD who uses them and is close to the age OP is I’m talking about. Yes she uses them for periods. She would be mortified if other people could see them peaking out of her clothes though. No they are not a kink thing. She has been in hospital for her periods.

They’ve been going around on tiktok and social media as a solution for those who have heavy periods and don’t want to deal with leaks.

SorryWoman · 27/07/2021 15:34

@cinammonbuns
Fair enough. I'd have thought the kids today would be way more eco conscious than that though!

Why would anyone wash them separate?

KeyErro · 27/07/2021 15:37

I saw the other thread.
I am relieved by today's update.

SisterMonicaJoansHabit · 27/07/2021 15:38

They're even a postpartum thing in the states from what I've seen this year.

I used to use them at night time sometimes, I have endometriosis and sometimes the loss is uncontrollable. For the sake of one or two night's undisturbed sleep, the incontinence pants are a godsend.

I still can't imagine wanting to wear short shorts on top of them, but I guess some are more discreet than others maybe.

ShippingNews · 27/07/2021 15:39

I can fully understand using them. I'm long past having periods, but when I did they were horrendously heavy. Wearing Dri-nights or women's incontinence underwear would have been a game changer for me.

TheSkatesOfCoachBombay · 27/07/2021 15:41

Hang on they keep them on all day whilst never changing them. 😳

But a pad you change every hour to two depending on your flow surely? Not sure I could walk around in a bloody pull up all day.

Period pants are designed to absorb blood, surely on these, it would just sit on the surface of the pad and become crusty dried blood eventually.

Happy to be corrected. Wearing them to bed I get same as a overnight pad then I suppose.

grey12 · 27/07/2021 15:41

I wore incontinence underwear when I gave birth and they were amazing!! MUCH better and comfortable than thick pads.

But I don't see it as necessary for periods Hmm besides you're supposed to change it every few hours otherwise bacteria grows on it

gamerchick · 27/07/2021 15:55

Me as well, so much more comfortable than pads.

I don't think I'd do it for periods unless they were insanely heavy.

Meh whatever works. Expensive way to deal with them though

Childbirth.
Dental pain.
Period pain.
Stubbed toe.

In that order.
