To want to get a breast reduction at size 32F?

Just wanted some advice because I don’t know if I’m overreacting, as I don’t think my breasts particularly stand out as that large when you look at me.
I have a toddler and I know the recovery can be a while, so I know I’ll be out of action when it comes to picking her up and playing with her etc which makes me wonder if it’s definitely worth it.
I’m a 32F and the only people I’ve heard of getting reductions are usually a few sizes bigger (or I could just be very uneducated about this)
I’m quite a small build and my breasts just make me look a lot bigger - not to mention all the back and neck pain. I find buying clothes a complete nightmare and exercising is hard too. I’ve been going back and forward about this operation for a while now.
Anyone else had it done around my size?

Thanks 🙂

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

They funded mine. I had to go and have my huge boobs photographed to be put before a committee!
Me too, as I said up thread despite all the real health implications of them the size they were, they only agreed because one was bigger than the other which I really didn’t care about at all.

I found my acceptance letter several years later and realised it was someone I was at school with. I doubt it had an impact as she probably wouldn’t have connected my married name.
@PaulGallico what kind of recovery time did you have? This is what worries me, the recovery time and time off work. I work in a male dominated industry and don't fancy the discussion with my manager, as lovely as he is, so would be hoping to fit it in annual leave.
Just say it’s a medical procedure, it’s none of his business what it is, although when you go back with your beautiful new boobs you can’t expect it to be gossip free.

For me I teach and was able to schedule it for the summer holidays, I think as with any op you’re signed off for 6 weeks but realistically 2.5 was enough, although I was still quite tired.

If you are actually a 30ff then you don't need a reduction. I doubt you have the right size. I'm a 28f and I have teeny boobs!

I'd start with a bloody good personal fitting, no internet guides, an actual proper rigby and pellar fitting and then see how things are.

Most companies won't let you take sick leave to recover from elective surgery. You will have to take annual leave

You are so right - you have tiny boobs then you are correct OP must be imagining any problems and doesn't need surgery at all. Thank God you're here to be the voice of sanity. Ffs

Thanks @ImprobablePuffin and @MummyfordSmile

I absolutely have had several Rigby and Peller fittings, spent a fortune on bras. Certainly don’t have teeny boobs!

OP, unfortunately as you can see, this is a tough question, ie “is this an acceptable size for a reduction?” And it’s caused kind of a “how long is a piece of string?” discussion. What matters is your life and your comfort. A better question might have been (I’m not blaming you): “If your breasts were causing you pain that could be fixed with a breast reduction, regardless of their size, would you get them reduced?”

I sometimes think bra sizes shouldn’t be used at all and we should just use breast weight. It would make so much more sense. Because, like everything else, bras have fallen victim to vanity sizing with some brands, so when we all try to talk to each other about bra sizes, unless we all have the same brand AND make, we’re speaking different languages. Based on brand differences, I can have a TWO-cup size difference, which is ridiculous. It seems it would be a lot easier in terms of your back health, if we all just knew what our breasts weighed (in general, though they may fluctuate during the month). It doesn’t matter what a bra tells you; if they’re too heavy for you to carry around without pain, then you should absolutely have a breast reduction. As many have said, I would consult with a doctor just to check the state of the your back and make sure it’s all right, snd then continue with your plans

No such thing as “acceptable size” totally personal choice.
My DD’s looked fine in a heavy duty bra BUT they were saggy and baggy. Why should I have to put up with that? They interfered with my exercise and fitness ability not to mention sleep as I scooped them out of my armpits regularly.

baldafrique · 28/07/2021 17:47

FFs being considered teeny boobs Grin

Big decision?? Not really, I find financial decisions bigger. My surgery took 5-6 hours. My nipple was not removed but the skin around the areola was freed and the entire nipple structure (always attached to blood and nerve supply) moved into a better position. Then excess skin removed. No major blood vessels in the area so very low surgical risk. I had improved nipple sensation following surgery. Was well versed on infection prevention (no smoking, meticulous clean of the bathroom, vitamins etc).
Recovery. Home by 3 pm, nibbled drank and slept till the next day. Up a bit the following day, able to load dishwasher, microwave food, dust (using a wand) etc simple things. The next day able to do more and more each day. Pain free, I had long acting freezing that lasted 48 hours after which ES Tylenol worked.

@RightYesButNo yes probably a poorly worded question by me. But luckily I’ve received loads of great responses. You make some very good points regarding bra sizing.

@fallfallfall thanks for sharing.
