To keep reporting my neighbour who is constantly fannying around with his registration plates?

Name changed to preserve anonynimty.

One of our neighbours keeps changing his registration plate.

Originally had a black audi with R6 as the plate. Not a valid registration Mark.

Reported it, saw police officers outside and it got changed to a regular valid registration plate.

Recently there was a black Range rover with POL 10 E on with the 0 altered to look like a C Hmm

Reported, but was then the black RR disappeared and the plate was then on a blue RR.

Haven't seen the black RR for a while. But the blue one is there with 6UN on a rear plate only (no front plate at all). The 6 is altered to look like a G Hmm Reported this last week. It's still on the car. When I see the car off the drive it's been driving like it's on Silverstone. In fact all the cars (there's normally about 6 on the drive) at this address are driven inappropriately.

There's also a newly arrived black merc which is untaxed.

Unless he drives past an ANPR car sadly not a lot is going to happen to him, or past a traffic car with an officer with a thing about missrepresented plates.
Of course it could be a legitimate plate but just isn't showing up on the DVLA database yet (they can be slow at processing things at times) which is why the online checkers are not coming up with anything yet.
If he's up to no good it would be stupid to draw attention to himself in that way but those up to no good don't tend to be the sharpest tools in the box and some do like being a bit flash.

Another option is that he is up to no good, is known to be up to no good and they are letting slip the little things like this as they are waiting to do him for something more serious (and then throw the pile of little things on top too).

I don't think your name change will help with anonymity too much as your posting his various number plates online..

Neighbour must wonder what's going on if everytime he tinkers with his plates the rozzers show up minutes later.

I imagine because why do the rest of us have to stick to the rules but this twat doesn't? He's also driving dangerously and I imagine the plates are not easy to read or identify if involved in an accident or speeding. So he is more likely to get away with these offences.

Just a few reasons off the top of my head.

Until you or your loved ones are involved in a collision with them...and then you can't claim against their insurance etc...

You'd have no issue with the driver having a dodgy number plate then? You wouldn't care?

It's illegal, it's taking the piss and it's sticking two fingers up at the law.

This would irritate the crap out of me too OP, keep reporting them. Unless of course he has the registration 'A55 HAT' or 'TW4T' or 'B16 BUM' in which case leave him alone.

Only on MN could there be 6 pages of outrage and accusations of ‘theft’ when someone watches a TV in a holiday cottage logged into someone else’s Netflix account

But when someone is driving dangerously on fake number plates, OP should mind her own business.

I have got so many problems in my life, dreams to achieve and lots to do. I just wouldn't have time to engage in this nonsense. Let it go and live your life. Life is too short.

Now I have to admit to having a fanny around with plates over the past 2 weeks but none of those are mine! 🤣!

Have a personal plate ( I know Mumsnet doesn't like them) so:
Personal plate off my car,
Original plates back on my car
New car arrives with it's own plates
Week later my plate goes on new car!

Could it just be something like that?

Could it be anything to do with stock car racing or rallying ect ?

Nobody who is actually doing anything dodgy wants a personalised or 'worded' number plate. They don't want to be seen.

People who have plates that say things like "R6" want to be seen. It's just a look at my car.
It's wanky but unlikely that he's dodgy.

This sounds like something a bit dodgy could be going on but with the number of ANPR camera's around if the Police were going to do anything they could have picked him up 1000x's by now.

As it's not a valid plate, the ANPR wouldn't be able to trace it back to an address. So he can drive like this with impunity.

I guess he doesn't pay for car parking either Hmm Most in our town are ANPR controlled.
