Neighbours are going to get worse for the next 6 weeks, aren't they.

Just that really.

It is still relatively early but it is a Sunday night. Neighbours have bought a trampoline with loads of kids screaming and screeching on it all day and it shows no sign of stopping. Loads of adults squeezed onto the garden, shouting and hollering and playing music loudly.

I've seen a lot of nightmare neighbour threads recently- it is going to get worse for us over the school holidays isn't it.

@Rhinothunder I'm hoping my neighbours work full time 😂

Where I live, we have a communal meadow between all the gardens. Kind of like an inverted cul de sac.

One twatting family at the first sight of sunshine set up camp with a bouncy castle and loud music, happily fucking off about 30 other families. Shouting and screaming goes on til 10, 10.30.

Utter twats.

When did people get so intolerant?? I love hearing people enjoying themselves and socialising in their gardens. I frequently don't share their politics or overheard concerns or way of raising their kids or music taste but... Meh. Such is life. I'd also hate to be so regimented I felt I could never make noise in my own garden. Different strokes innit?

PattyPan · 18/07/2021 22:54

We had lots of trampoline and paddling pool noise from various neighbours today which I don’t mind too much. What I do object to is that it is now almost 11pm and someone is still playing music loud enough for me to hear the lyrics! Some of us have work in the morning Angry

MostlyMaple · 18/07/2021 22:58

@Aalvarino I'm more than happy and tolerant of people enjoying their gardens.
But on a Sunday evening, when most people (on our estate anyway) are up for work in the morning, it is very inconsiderate to be loud. No one wants to hear their neighbours when they are trying to sleep!

But to me 10 is not late. It grinds my gears when people let their kids play out at 7am. Or otherwise make noise. Or have building material or skip deliveries. People piss eachother off when living in close proximity. Yes of course regular nightly noise late into the evening is annoying but all I'm saying is don't get ahead of yourself. It might just be them kicking back because they are on leave. It is the height of summer. That's quite acceptable in my book. I know it might not be in yours but everyone is different.

@30degreesandmeltinghere

We got a trampoline in April. Barely used now. Though dd did sleep on it last night.. She saw 2 shooting stars!!.
That might have been the Perseid Meteor Shower Smile I just watched the Space Station go over. She can sign up to NASA to get alerts. I love watching it, even from the days when there was a shuttle docked to it.

It's the Perseid meteor shower from now until mid August 💫

Air rifle practice towards the bouncy castle maybe? Obviously done during the night, no danger of being seen.
MostlyMaple · 18/07/2021 23:30

@Aalvarino we will just have to agree to disagree 👍

Pretty much, some days may be nice and quiet, other days it's party etc

I'd say 10pm is getting on a bit, then I'd presume the neighbours should be quieter by then.
Lemonmelonsun · 18/07/2021 23:46

We all need to exist with each other, one person's kicking back, day after day or every single weekend, is another's prison?

We all have the right to enjoy our personal space, that means parties, sometimes, loud music, sometimes... Anything that stops other people's freedoms, sometimes.. Not very often..

AddressLabel · 18/07/2021 23:48

The pandemic has brought out the worst in people. Expect plenty of selfish garden behaviour for the foreseeable. Because “it’s their garden and they can do what the want in it”, despite the fact it impacts on other people.

I was on a work call earlier this week and somebody commented on the music in the background. It wasn’t mine, it was the twat in the next street over who plays his music so loud you can hear it streets away, and I just happened to have my windows open. How he gets away with it I don’t know, when the weather is nice he usually starts at around 9:30am for 4 or 5 hours at a time. It’s usually 80s stuff which I don’t mind listening to and if I close my windows I can’t really hear it. If I was an immediate neighbour I’d have killed him by now though.

Rabbitheadlights · 18/07/2021 23:57

See I just don't understand how anyone can be so ignorant, Iwe have 7DC they play outside, but there are rules. No screaming, not out before 10am or after 8pm common courtesy surely?

TwoZeroTwoZero · 19/07/2021 00:03

There have been a lot of people gathering in different gardens around where I live: radios, Alexa devices, kids on trampolines, kids in paddling pools, yappy dogs, teens doing whatever teens do, someone bouncing a basketball... some of them are still there now. Doesn't bother me at all though because it's just normal summer noise. I've still been able to sit and read in my own garden, and then chat to a friend and have my kids playing with their water guns without feeling like I have to lock myself in my house to escape it. A lot of people on here are very intolerant which must be a pain when most of us live cheek by jowl with our neighbours in large housing estates.

Yaya26 · 19/07/2021 00:17

People are so inconsiderate. We were at the beach today it was gorgeous. Then three vehicles arrived together with about 15 people from very young kids to men in fifties. They had two quads with them. All of the people from about 6 years old up to the older men spent the rest of the day racing them through and around everyone sunbathing/ playing and doing doughnuts. The bloody noise was awful and it was so dangerous. They went very close and almost went into people walking across the beach a couple of times.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 19/07/2021 00:27

@Fleetw00d that's exactly how me and my DP feel. I absolutely do not want to hear anyone. Ever.

We moved as rurally as we could afford (not rural enough, unfortunately). And despite having only 4 neighbours, the noise we do have to put up with is far worse than what we tried to escape in a housing estate. At least people did kind of consider others being so close and all standard semi detached. Here people only consider themselves so we have screaming, shouting, parties, wank music, quad bikes, motorbikes, revving engines, heavy machinery .. the list goes on.

It's been surprisingly quiet here this weekend. One side are keeping their heads down after being absolute wankers last weekend blasting shit dance music through loudspeakers for 10 sodding hours. The other side are on holiday.

Holothane · 19/07/2021 00:30

We’ve had kids kicking a ball I couldn’t see them but could hear them it’s going to be a long summer. (No ball games where we are) they still do it though.

Heartofglass12345 · 19/07/2021 01:53

10pm my 8 year old was still trying to go to sleep which he struggles with anyway, and there were kids around his age playing right outside our house screaming shouting and kicking a ball. It's ridiculous.
I remember last summer someone rung our doorbell at 10:45pm and ran off. I was livid as there were kids of 8/9 years old still out there playing, it was pitch black for god sake.
People are so inconsiderate and rude, have you kids in your own bloody house in the night!

youkiddingme · 19/07/2021 02:40

@Fleetw00d

I wish I could afford to live somewhere with no neighbours and no one around, preferably surrounded by fields and woodland with no public pathway so no walkers. I fucking hate having neighbours, I hate hearing them talk (or sing at the top of their lungs because they're in a choir), smoking, bbq, have fun, laugh, I hate it all. I want silence, I dislike most other people hugely and have been known, even at uni, to knock on doors and tell them to keep it down. And summer makes it so much worse. I know, I'm a ray of sunshine 😂
You're my kind of neighbour.
Noterook · 19/07/2021 02:58

Our neighbours are pretty quiet overall, one side they don't tend to go in the garden much as they prefer going on long walks etc, and the other side like to sit in the garden and relax. I try to be considerate and not let DS out there until a reasonable time (they're all retired), and haven't had people over for a while due to covid so haven't made noise in the evenings, not because they've ever said anything but it is annoying to hear someone else's noise early or late in the day (and during the day but can't say it's all unreasonable). I feel for you, it sucks.

Pogacar · 19/07/2021 07:09

Not out before 10am in the garden??? Confused

Well I’m an early bird and I love getting out in the morning on days like yesterday (can be too hot later on). The toddlers get out and play after breakfast too, from around 8am - 11am is the best bit of the day for them.

My neighbours never seems to venture out on hot days until the evening though. Last night they were out 7pm - midnight screaming and playing.

We just have to be tolerant of each other that’s all.

Fleetw00d · 19/07/2021 09:11

I'm glad I have so many kindred spirits 😂 maybe we should all move next door to each other.

Manzanilla55 · 19/07/2021 09:17

I would love to live somewhere with no neighbours too. My neighbourhood isn't at all noisy but I would still love the silence.
