I just received the following Annonymous message

Well thank you very much.

Do you know what LDKK means?

Well no I don’t actually. Can you enlighten me mumsnet? Google doesn’t know. Do I need to be concerned?

Don’t think I’ve upset anyone.

@Bortles

No dog. I think he meant Lady Dog Killer but is drunk hence the typo. I’m obviously the dog.

^It does in fact belong to my very drunk former employee.
Still no idea what LDKK means still though.^

@mygenericusername If he's really pissed he might just've typed the wrong letters on his phone and mean something else entirely. LMK=Let Me Know or anything.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 16/07/2021 23:30

Keep the message if it's really him. Might be handy since you are going to court

Mansplainee · 16/07/2021 23:36

My ex employee was a contractor

Not really the point of the thread I know, but if he was a contractor then you should really not refer to him as your ex-employee, especially in any formal, legal docs and it’s very possible he could go after you for employment rights like sick pay, holiday pay, tax, pension, etc if you’re classing him as an employee.

Mamanyt · 16/07/2021 23:40

@mygenericusername

Sorry by anonymous I meant I didn’t recognise the number and it wasn’t coming up in google.

It does in fact belong to my very drunk former employee.

Still no idea what LDKK means still though.

I’m not even remotely bothered anymore.

I would, however, save that message. IF something untoward were to happen, it may be handy to have it. THAT SAID...don't hold your breath waiting for something untoward to happen.
mygenericusername · 16/07/2021 23:41

@Mansplainee. I’m not doing any of the paperwork so no chance of that at all.

I did actually offer to put him in salary but he refused which I thought was very odd given that he’d just been diagnosed with a life changing illness that will eventually see him in a wheel chair. He would have had long term sick pay and benefits as an employee.

@Mamanyt

As this moment in time the only threat I feel under is from my own stupidity by replying. I’m so annoyed with him I want to put

Do you know what HMRC means as I’m pretty certain he doesn’t declare all his tax.

I am however only trying to communicate with him via solicitors so have stepped away from the phone.

Good move. Disengage. But do save that original message...in case you ever need it. I doubt you will, but if you DON'T keep it, you almost certainly will...or that's been my experience in things like this!

No I don't know what that means...I'm in the USA, and our tax structures are very different.

mygenericusername · 17/07/2021 00:11

@Mamanyt. Do you know what HMRC is what I want to write to him but haven’t. It’s our form of the IRS. I’m pretty sure he declares as little as possible.

Oh God, what an embarrassing message for him to have sent you.

Definitely leave that one hanging. Let him feel the shame.

AH! LOL, I got you now. Sorry...I'm a bit slow these days. And you're perfectly within reason to WANT to, and perfectly on the side of wisdom NOT to.
