Can I wear this to a wedding?

Just that really. Going to a wedding in 2 weeks and need a new dress.

I seem to be drawn to floral on white and am wondering if I can get away with it or if it's still a faux pas?

Can I wear this to a wedding?

@Invisablewoman

Oh thank you! I've been umming and ahhing about returning it. I was worried it was too tight and too young for me (I'm 45).

definitely not.. the cut is beautiful and the fabric looks lovely soft and the pattern is gorgeous.. I need to get online for a browse 😂

wjg65ka · 16/07/2021 17:38

I think it's beautiful for a wedding

ALbigbump · 16/07/2021 17:39

I think it’s lovely for a wedding

3Britnee · 16/07/2021 17:40

Of aaalllllllll the colours you could pick from, you want to wear white 🤔

Pedalpushers · 16/07/2021 17:47

Thanks for opinions everyone. It looks like people object to the style more than the colour! I hadn't really clocked that the shirring goes all the way down, I thought it was just the waist. I might look for something more flared in the skirt.

No it's cream with peach flowers all over it 🤣

ILoveTracey · 16/07/2021 17:51

If you're worried you will be judged by some guests you probably will be.

If it was my wedding I wouldn't mind in the least. That said, I wouldn't wear it to a wedding.

eccecc · 16/07/2021 17:51

Too white for me but definitely not the right shape/cut for a wedding, sorry!

TheGumption · 16/07/2021 17:59

I think it's fine if you're quite petite OP. I'd never wear that to a wedding because with my boobs it wold look indecent!

RuthW · 16/07/2021 18:02

Lovely. Pick out the colour of the flowers with your fascinator/hat and buttonhole.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 16/07/2021 18:07

If you don't like my comments then please Report me to MNHQ instead of hijacking OP's thread

You haven’t breeched NN rules so why would I report you. It’s the total hypocrisy of telling other people what they should and shouldn’t post that’s tedious.

Oh and so you don’t think I’m hijacking …it’s a bit too short and low cut for a wedding. More a going out dress than a formal occasion dress.

Chloemol · 16/07/2021 18:21

It’s ok as long as you have bold accessories with it

DroopyClematis · 16/07/2021 18:25

It looks lovely but it's shirred so you'll be constantly pulling it down.
It's also very low cut so there might be the possibility of a bit of over exposure at times.

caringcarer · 16/07/2021 18:28

Fine with brighter accessories, unless bridesmaids or flowergirls have same shades for dresses, then no.

PerfectStormsinTeacups · 16/07/2021 18:31

Too much white in my opinion. If you’re having to ask it’s really a no!

strawberry2017 · 16/07/2021 18:40

Too low cut and too short for a wedding

Wellpark · 16/07/2021 18:53

Not suitable for a wedding. Colour and style.

Whysolong7 · 16/07/2021 20:08

Gorgeous for a summer wedding 😀

SarahAndQuack · 16/07/2021 20:12

I think it depends on you and the wedding. It's not a very formal dress but it's very pretty. If it's a relaxed summer wedding where most non-family guests are 20-somethings, you will probably look lovely and suitable.

Maddiemademe · 16/07/2021 20:14

Looks lovely for a summer wedding.

TSSDNCOP · 16/07/2021 20:17

You could wear that to my wedding OP.

No one ever upstages a bride unless they turn up in a wedding dress, veil and bouquet in a vintage rolls and cut the cake.

steppemum · 16/07/2021 20:21

I really really do not understand this.
I have only seen it on mn.

Plain white or cream dress - no
White with pattern that is styled like a bridesmaid/wedding dress - no

summer dress white/pale background with flowers on, in a dress style which is not remotely like a wedding dress - perfectly fine.

Aprilx · 16/07/2021 20:23

I don’t think there is anything wrong with the colour of it. I am puzzled by the photo and can’t visualise how it is supposed to look though. The V at the front looks like it should come to the top of the cleavage but then proportionally that would mean it is more of a long top than a dress (although I am tall so that is how it looks to me). 😊. But in any case it looks very clingy with all the elastic and very short too. Not something I could pull off but even if I could, I am not sure it is suitable for a wedding.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 16/07/2021 20:25

I don’t really like it but I think it is absolutely fine for a (not too formal) wedding.

amission · 16/07/2021 20:28

Legs OR boobs, not both
