Can I wear this to a wedding?

Just that really. Going to a wedding in 2 weeks and need a new dress.

I seem to be drawn to floral on white and am wondering if I can get away with it or if it's still a faux pas?

Can I wear this to a wedding?
OP posts:

I think it’s too short, too low cut, and too white for a wedding.

Cloudninenine · 16/07/2021 16:12

Although maybe I am just old fashioned? But I wouldn’t think something that plunges to the navel is ever wedding appropriate!

iklboo · 16/07/2021 16:19

Your navel must be in a very strange place. The neckline finishes just under the bust.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/07/2021 16:26

Fine for a summer wedding IMO.

DontWiltMySpinachPlease · 16/07/2021 16:31

No I wouldn't wear it. Too white

MsSquiz · 16/07/2021 16:33

It's not a plain white dress or remotely bridal, I wouldn't mind you wearing it to my wedding.

inappropriateraspberry · 16/07/2021 16:34

Unless your accessories are a bouquet and veil, I think it's a perfect dress for a wedding guest.

RuthTopp · 16/07/2021 16:36

It looks quite Bonnie , what are yours like in it ? How short is it ?

RuthTopp · 16/07/2021 16:40

That was supposed to read boobie !

LaMarschallin · 16/07/2021 16:49

I find these "is this ok to wear to someone I care about wedding" threads really strange.

Not having a go at you in particular,OP, but they all amount of "Is this too:

white
low cut
short
same colour as the bridesmaids

etc

The wedding is not about you!

Wear something that looks good but isn't white/low-cut/very short/the same colour as the attendants...

Nobody cares about your dress!
Of course, look nice - I love to dress up for a special occasion.

Don't go the whole Liz Hurley.

Just let the bride have her day.

Especially if you're still in love with the groom.

yikesanotherbooboo · 16/07/2021 16:54

I'm surprised at the objections. I think it is a fine wedding guest dress.?

UmamiMammy · 16/07/2021 16:54

Perfect for a wedding, it's not plain white and nobody is likely to mistake you for the bride!
0n the other hand.... A plain white floor length dress.... Obviously not! 😃

BackforGood · 16/07/2021 16:58

@polkadotclip

Nothing like a wedding dress so you're fine there.

Question though. Is it reeeeeallly low cut or reeeeeaallly short? I can't tell from the pic which. Either might make it not very nice on.

This ^ is exactly my thoughts.

100% no issue with the colour / pattern of the material, but I am a bit concerned what it would look like on in terms of if it is suitable for a wedding from the 'cut' pov.

QueenBee52 · 16/07/2021 17:03

who the fuck are the WEDDING POLICE poster that determine whats ok and not ok to wear to a wedding!?

the dress is lovely.. and nothing like a wedding dress 🌸

Manista · 16/07/2021 17:04

Of course you can, it's lovely. Hardly a "bridal" white dress.

BackforGood · 16/07/2021 17:08

@QueenBee52 The very point of the OP starting this thread, is to find out what other people would think.

100% anyone can wear whatever they want, to wherever they want, but The OP wants to know what the public at large would be thinking, in their heads, if someone wore a particular dress to a wedding.

It is absolutely the OP's prerogative to ask for opinions, and, when someone asks for opinions, they generally hope people will give them.
Not sure why that makes you angry Confused

BrilliantBetty · 16/07/2021 17:11

Lovely! With a dash of colour. Colourful shoes or bag

Im not angry... Im highlighting the rudeness of the comments .. 😏

Flossatops · 16/07/2021 17:22

Absolutely nothing wrong with the dress and certainly nothing like a wedding dress. Wear a strong contrasting colour with it if you're worried; perhaps carry a wrap in peach or anything darker than cream. It's lovely for a summer wedding.

Invisablewoman · 16/07/2021 17:30

Sorry to highjack but worried about my choice for a late summer wedding now....it's not white but it is quite fitted.

The only rude comments have been from some claiming people are from the 1950’s and you swearing.

Most have said it’s fine, some have said not and explained why they think that. .

Invisablewoman · 16/07/2021 17:32

Oh thank you! I've been umming and ahhing about returning it. I was worried it was too tight and too young for me (I'm 45).

DragonDoor · 16/07/2021 17:36

Although it’s a lovely floral pattern, I don’t think the shape/ cut is formal enough for a wedding, more like something that could be worn on a night out if you wear short dresses.
