To think I'm going to get Covid?

I missed my usual bus tonight and had to get a tram home instead. There were massive delays and so the one I did end up getting was absolutely packed with lots of people not wearing masks. I'm in Manchester where covid rates are rising. It's made me very uneasy and now I'm convinced I'm going to get Covid.

Well, if you were exposed, you can’t change that now. You had to get home, Try to get a decent amount of sleep, light exercise and vit D etc etc.

Thanks for your reply. I'll just hope and pray!

I think you have to acccept you're likely to get Covid if you haven't been double jabbed, just in general if not from the bus in this instance.

Have you had your jab?

Fingers crossed you don't, I used to get the tram from Manchester to Bury many moons ago I know how crowded they can get.

You can still catch it even if you have had the jab. My sister and her family have all been jabbed and all currently have covid and are bedbound by it

Isn't Ivermectin prescription only?

Youdiditanyway · 15/07/2021 09:09

You had to get home so don’t beat yourself up about that. Honestly hate how anxious the pandemic has made people, so many people now act like strangers are potential virus harborouers and want to stay as far away as possible from them. Hopefully you are vaccinated and if you sanitised your hands and had your mask on, you should be ok.

Ethelfromnumber73 · 15/07/2021 09:28

Isn't Ivermectin prescription only?
And also totally unproven. No idea why the person who is suggesting this is following the 'protocol' if they have already had Covid. They probably have some immunity which is why they believe the 'protocol' works Hmm
irritableshark · 15/07/2021 09:39

I'm not defending the use of ivermectin, as I don't know anything about it. I just thought it was weird to promote something that you can presumably only get through dodgy means.

On the point of having immunity due to previous Covid; I'm not (anecdotally) getting the impression that having had alpha would confer immunity versus delta. I know quite a few students who have had both. Am emphasising that's anecdotal though!

RainbowBriteUk · 15/07/2021 13:39

Thanks for your replies. I was so dismayed at the number of people who don't wear a mask. It's like they don't give a shit. I'm scared to see my vulnerable parents now and so won't be seeing them for a fair few weeks.

are you and your parents double vaccinated?

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 15/07/2021 13:43

Are you vaccinated,? The best thing we can all do to get protected and protect vulnerable relatives is get vaccinated.

RainbowBriteUk · 15/07/2021 13:54

Yes I am and they both are too.

My dad is currently ill with covid for the 2nd time.

First time was march 2020. And now. Even though he has been double jabbed. This is the issue. People think if people are double jabbed they will be fine.

My dad is just as poorly as the last time. I am glad he has had the jabs, because he could be so much worse this time. But people can still get it and be very ill. Which has its own knock on effects.

millymollymoomoo · 15/07/2021 14:29

Complete over the top

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 15/07/2021 14:44

Unsolicited statistically speaking that is exceptionally unusual.

The vast majority of people will be well protected with the vaccine, and are unlikely to require hospital treatment if they get poorly with covid.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 15/07/2021 14:45

Millymollymoomoo

Yep

Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 14:54

I think everyone will get Covid, it’s just a matter of time. ( unless your a hermit on your own )

Oh don’t say that-what on earth will the hysterical amongst us have to talk about?
Hellcatspangle · 15/07/2021 15:19

I think we're all gonna get it, just a matter of when. I've lost track of the number of people I know who've got it now or have had in the last few weeks, most of them double jabbed.

Sirius99 · 15/07/2021 15:22

Hellcatspangle
Same here, Where we live we’ve been very lucky with numbers, But now it’s the highest it’s ever been and I personally know more people with or just had Covid then at any time, Good job it’s open season next week🙄

AnneFuckingKirrin · 15/07/2021 15:23

Have you had the vaccine ?
My son has COVID, he got a positive test last week.
I have been doing a lft everyday, so far completely negative and I have been a lot closer to my son for longer periods than you were to anyone on the train.
We will all probably get it at some point but you might not have it now.
Try not to worry, it will be ok.

AnneFuckingKirrin · 15/07/2021 15:24

Sorry, just seen that you are vaccinated.just try not to worry.

LittleTiger007 · 15/07/2021 15:35

My 90year old mother in law had covid and it was a mild cold. This was BEFORE her vaccine.

Not everyone dies.

Try to keep a lid on the fear and be realistic. Covid is here to stay - permanently.
We will all catch it at some point.
The vaccines will keep many more alive and others will get it less strongly then they might have without the vaccine.

We have to find a way to go on living. Thousands die of the flu every year. We don’t want that happening but we don’t fear the flu. Hundreds die in car crashes every year - we don’t want that happening but we shouldn’t live in fear every day of getting in cars and busses.

My point is some things are out of your control… take it a day at a time and see what happens. Hopefully you got it mildly if at all.

You can’t change the outcome through fear and worry.
