To say that God is a raging misogyinist?

disclaimer - not religious and this is lighthearted.

I don't have periods as badly as many women. I used to struggle a lot in my teens, they'd make me throw up at school and all sorts.

Then I discovered the depo injection and was on it for close on 10 years. No periods at all. Came off as I didn't really think I was the one who should be pumping hormones into my body, then when periods eventually came back, the mess and discomfort was just not something I wanted to deal with, so had one dose before Covid hit and been off it since.

I don't really get PMT, I don't get floods, I don't get javelin arse (any more) so I should count myself lucky really Hmm

BUT I seem to spend my life worrying about my period. I'm either on, and wondering if I'm going to leak. I'm either at or near the end, and wondering whether it's safe to stay off the tampons or if I'll have a 'second wind' (periods now very unpredictable). I have a blissful few days a month when one has finished before the next one is due-ish (they're erratic and no regular cycle) so another week or so of stress worrying I'll be caught short when out and about.

I've just come on today. That's a cycle of 67 days. 67! It's not as good as you think, because I've spent most of that time remembering to shove tissue in my pants on the off chance I'll come on and remembering to pack tampons every single time I leave the house.

So I've decided 'God' is a raging misogynist. He wouldn't make a man bleed (randomly for me) unpredictably and erratically and messily and leave them on tenterhooks for the next one. Surely, in all his infinite wisdom, he could have come up with a better reproductive system??
@Sparklfairy
Why should I because it’s more convenient/comfortable/reliable than sticking loo paper I. Your pants as you described.

And I've had to have worn them for 47 days or something... well yes you’d need more than one pairGrin
I shouldn't have to think about this stuff because men don't!

Seriously. I've never done period pants but I'm dating, and quite a bit. I can't imagine they'd match nipping to the loo in lingerie and whipping out loo roll on the off chance my period will have appeared and I'm gonna get lucky.

Youve got into the mindset of managing and I want the mindset of living my life as a man does Grin

Yes, appalling design flaws. In order to be fertile we have to bleed 25% of the time, often unpredictably and often painfully, always messily!
Even contraceptives that prevent fertility often still mean we have to have the wretched bleeding!! Even when I was on the pill and tried taking to back to back to avoid periods I got breakthrough bleeding.

Next complaint - the bowels/anus are too close to the womb/vagina. So I often (and I understand this is not uncommon) get crampy/loose bowels as well as period pain. More pain, more mess, lovely.

Next complaint - the urethra is so badly sited inside the labia minora so anything you want to put in your vagina, whether its a willy or a mooncup often gives your poor pisshole a good scrape. So I often have (as I do currently) cystisis to join my period pain/bleeding and loose crampy bowels.

If I was designing the female body I would transpose the urethra and the clitoris - makes much more sense! Goodbye cystitis and hello lots more PIV orgasms.

@ifherbumwereabungalow your post is a much more rational and logical approach to what I was trying to say Grin its the second guessing, the fact that sangria has barely changed in the time I haven't need it and grrr the expectation that its yet another thing we're supposed to just get on with and show no trace of, even though its a naturally bolivar function we have zero control of Confused

Why on earth do young girls need to have periods when they are not physically or emotionally ready to be mothers? It's perverse.

imisscashmere · 09/07/2021 12:10

Having given birth and then breastfed, I suddenly wondered why the feck God “the Creator” is supposedly a man?!

TheFoundations · 09/07/2021 12:11

I do wonder how your average bloke would take it if you told him 'Oh, by the way, your underpants might fill up with blood sometime this week. It won't hurt, don't worry. Oh, actually, it might feel a bit like you're being bored by a drill bit made of razors. But anyway, what were we talking about before...?'

I mean, women are just supposed to casually accept this stuff. It's not casual!

Thelnebriati · 09/07/2021 12:16

Do you really want to know why women have periods? The answer is pretty grim and suggest that periods were designed by Mother Nature rather than God.

TheVolturi · 09/07/2021 12:21

If God does not exist, how are we here? When you need two full grown humans to reproduce 🤔. I can never get my head around this.

SilverDragonfly1 · 09/07/2021 12:29

I feel quite safe in saying the god isn't bothered about anyone who isn't white and in the top tax bracket. Which gives us a pretty big hint as to the demographic that invented the Christian variety.

Thelnebriati · 09/07/2021 12:29

Our species evolved into this form over millions of years.

Meraas · 09/07/2021 12:46

So who should? Confused

If you don't want periods, you deal with it, it's no one else's problem.

Well this was kind of why I took the piss of God

If you don't believe in God then why offend those of us who do?

So sick of the relentless targeting of religious people on MN.

But how does it happen? How did one human arrive on the planet?

toconclude · 09/07/2021 12:56

The OT says nothing about periods actually. So called curse of Eve relates solely to childbirth.

Paddling654 · 09/07/2021 12:57

Indeed. This is completely unnecessary.

Why? Answers by Monday. Why??

Scarlettpixie · 09/07/2021 12:59

I’d take the hormones anytime unless ttc.

The alternative for me is periods of at least 8 days (my last one lasted 6 weeks), which are heavy and very painful.

Bugger that, the mini pill is fantastic!

Not sure who is to blame - evolution? Agree it’s rubbish for women though.

DysmalRadius · 09/07/2021 13:10

Women live longer than men (on average). If God hated women, why wouldn't he make sure they died off once they'd done with raising kids?

To look after men in their old age and then die alone once they've served their purpose. Plus women can have kids until they're 90 in the Bible.

Hang on a second. I am Irish, and brought up a Catholic, am baptised and confirmed, but also of the generation that is 'allowed to think for themselves' in a way my parents (and especially grandparents) weren't. So I have a respect for God that isn't an automatic get-down-on-your-knees unquestioningly @meeras

Women pump hormones into their body for contraception. Men don't because the side effects are too inhibitibive and/or bothersome.

Those same side effects that we get Hmm but men can't handle/impinge on their lives too much.

You know, headaches, weight gain, depression... all of which came up in studies for men but were deemed too much for men to handle?

WhatIsThisPlease · 09/07/2021 13:37

@ChainJane

God created women. Why would He create something just to piss about with it?

Women live longer than men (on average). If God hated women, why wouldn't he make sure they died off once they'd done with raising kids?

And why are women's bodies better proportioned and more aesthetically pleasant than men's? I'm not talking about sexual attractiveness, I mean from an artistic point of view. It's like God made men first, and as the first pancake usually comes out wrong, the second (women) was better.

God made women live longer than men to make sure they have someone to run around after them until their dying day Grin
whatswithtodaytoday · 09/07/2021 13:46

Well for a start there is no God, we just evolved this way.

Basically our brains have out-evolved our bodies. We are meant to be pregnant or breastfeeding, early women wouldn't have had a lot of periods to deal with unless they were infertile. And we're meant to die at around 40, once you're past it reproductively and bits start failing.

By gaining consciousness and intellect we know how to keep ourselves alive longer, and how to prevent pregnancy. But our bodies are pretty much still the same as early humans, so they don't really work with modern lifestyles.

BashfulClam · 09/07/2021 13:48

It’s that bitch Mother Natures fault. Why do we have to bleed ffs? As a teenager I had serious cramps that made me think I was dying and would throw up so painkillers were useless. I once begged my mum to kill me to put me out of my misery as it was unbelievable. Luckily the pain has calmed down a lot but it’s still an issue. I get raging pmt and cry and sometimes have fleeting thoughts of hurting myself. The thoughts are weird, I had awful cramps once and painkillers and heat patches were doing nothing. As I waited to cross the road i thought ‘I could throw myself under the cars, I would probably not get killed but if I broke my leg I’d get some really good painkillers…’ another time I wondered in all seriousness how it would feel to fall out the first floor window…luckily each time I’ve realised how daft these thoughts are.
