…to gush with pride over my daughter?!

DD is almost 16 and has this evening gone off to her prom looking absolutely stunning.

This is the same girl who, just 5 years ago, laid in a hospital bed full of tubes and drains following major abdominal surgery to remove a huge tumour.

Tonight is her night, and a big ‘fuck you’ to cancer. I am so incredibly proud of her and how she’s recovered both mentally and physically. I thank my lucky stars each and every day that she survived.

Thank you again everyone for the kind words.

I got a message late last night to say she was safely at her friends. Can’t wait to get her this morning and see how the evening went and pictures of all her friends!

Have had a little sniffle reading this thread this morning OP. I hope she had a wonderful time, and how touching of you to remember the other girl Flowers

The3Ls · 09/07/2021 08:20

My daughter was very ill 2018. I have similar moments sometimes really ordinary boring ones where she is just laughing. I wouldn't wish it on anyone but facing your worst fear - child nearly dying - certainly makes you live in the moment

Mooda · 09/07/2021 08:27

How wonderful, I hope she had an amazing time.

Gush away op!

That's so amazing OP and a wonderful testament to your daughter and you/your family and the strength you've all shown.

I hope she had THE BEST time last night and made some wonderful memories. And I hope she has the best future too, keeping hold of her strength and her ability to face such a dreadful challenge with a positive attitude - she'll be an amazing asset to any college/uni/employer.

ThanksThanksThanks

I'm proud of her too. And you. Such a beautiful and heartwarming post x

She had a great time, other than a slight dress malfunction!

A friend who is also a photographer came over and captured some stunning photos of DD and the friends she got ready with, so I’m sitting here with tears in my eyes having looked at them 🥲
