In not being able to find a reasonably priced pen that works well!

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced ball point pen, please. I am looking for something that is not scratchy and doesn't require endless scribbles just to get the ink to flow. I don't mind paying more for something that works well. Is it just me or is it hard to find a good option? Thank you.

I was coming on to say Inkjoy - didn’t know there were so many fans! I bought DS a pack of multicoloured ones; DP grabbed one to write with and exclaimed that it was such a nice pen to use. Cheap too and the coloured ones are nice.

tallduckandhandsome · 06/07/2021 19:49

I picked some of these up in Tesco for £1.25. Glad to see they got a recommend upthread.

I prefer Sharpie S-gel to Ink Joy.

Anything but the cheapest crap. You just described a hundred billion biros.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 06/07/2021 19:53

DBIL bought me a Parker set with ballpoint, gel pen, and propelling pencil for Christmas. I love them all, they work so reliably, that I've ditched all my disposable pens for work and only use these!

ChatterMonkey · 06/07/2021 19:53

Bic biros are my go to after trying lots and lots of pens. Cheap but do the best job imo.

Actually my favourite pens are the hilton hotel clicky pens, but not had a chance to get them for a while!

Paddingtonitspaddingtonbear · 06/07/2021 19:55

My all time favourite is a Parker pen.

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 06/07/2021 19:55

Fisher Space pens are great if you don't mind paying a little extra. Write upside down, under water etc as have pressurised ink cartridges.

YouCannotPossiblyBeHungry · 06/07/2021 19:58

I like a fine nib and can't abide ink splodges. I will only use Pentel Superb fine line BK77 pens, you can buy in all colours in packs of 6 on Amazon.

scrappydappydoo · 06/07/2021 20:16

Another vote for ink joy - the name is a very good description!

WhenTheDragonsCame · 06/07/2021 20:31

Gel pens write really lovely but they run out so quickly! I got bought some from a friend for my 40th and one would run out in a week!

I've got some of the animal print Zebra pens which are quite nice.

Hankunamatata · 06/07/2021 20:33

Kids are obsessed with frixion pens

MoiraNotRuby · 06/07/2021 20:34

Give me a Uni fineliner any day! Much nicer than ballpoints.

WeAllHaveWings · 06/07/2021 20:44

Papermate flexigrip for a ballpoint

Uniball elite for a gel pen

onlyjustme · 06/07/2021 21:06

Bic Cristal but the fine point... 0.8mm (Yellow bodied pen)
The normal 1mm are reasonable but I prefer the fine point. They come in blue, black, red and green.
BUT... they do the 1.6mm in lots of yummy colours though so I have a few of those... (pink, purple, light blue, light green, neon orange and neon yellow... came in a pack off Amazon. Love them).

SwimmingOnEggshells · 06/07/2021 21:43

Staedtler ball points. I love how easily they move on paper and the slightly lighter coloured blue ink.

tywysoges · 06/07/2021 21:50

Another vote for Parker jotter. I have another Parker I prefer (I’ll look up the name!) but I like it because it’s heavier than the jotter, I’m sure they use the same refills.

tywysoges · 06/07/2021 21:53

Urban twist it’s called Smile

HomeEdRocks18 · 06/07/2021 22:20

Bic fineline. The ones with the orange tube

0nlyMe · 06/07/2021 22:44

Search “matador” pens on eBay. Random but they’re my favourite. Apparently from Bangladesh! My daughter “stole” it off her friend and asked me to order her some because she loved them so much. I’m now a fan myself. Cheap as chips too. Probably cheaper Grin

RiojaRose · 07/07/2021 00:43

Stabilo Easyball. Comes in right handed and left handed (ergonomic). Writes really well.

RiojaRose · 07/07/2021 00:48

Darn it, they seem to be discontinued. Now I’m also going to be looking for ballpoint recommendations. Argh!

JudgeRindersMinder · 07/07/2021 01:01

Either zebra or the Bic 1.6mm

hilariousnamehere · 07/07/2021 02:24

@JudgeRindersMinder

Either zebra or the Bic 1.6mm
I came on to say exactly this Grin

I buy boxes of the bics and stock up on zebra smooth every time I go to the supermarket!

ElderMillennial · 07/07/2021 06:14

I was also going to say papermate ink joy
