My DD is due to have significant surgery on the 13th July, we are only required to isolate for 3 days before the surgery with a Covid test at the beginning of the three days.

My DS is at secondary school that has had loads of cases recently, he has only escaped isolating himself as he spent a few days in the school iso unit. Today we have just had a non close contact letter for DD school and one year group bubble has burst, they have been really lucky so far.

I'm really concerned if either child becomes a close contact we are likely to have to cancel the surgery.

So to avoid that risk next would would you send your kids in or keep them home? DD wont go back after her Op until September and DS is going to a new education place in Sept.

AIBU - Yes, leave them in school, No, keep them home next week

Could you get a postal test so you don't even need to leave the house?

Hopefully your DD will be fine, our DD is in her 10 day isolation because she was sat next to a girl most of Wednesday who then tested positive & so far seems to have avoided catching it 🤞🏻

They said no, it had to be at the hospital or drive thru facility but I’m watching for the confirmation of my options (I was hoping postal would be an option).

Drive through definitely would be a safer option then

Good luck for the test. Depending on his job I’d even be tempted to get DH to stay elsewhere for the next few days to minimise risk.

Why is this even a question, I would 110% keep them home!

MrsKypp · 05/07/2021 13:09

Keep them home. Medical necessity.
