Matt Hancock affair

AIBU to be utterly peed off that another one of our Ministers - rather than devoting his time and effort to getting the country out of this mess - is busy carrying on with an aide (which he appointed at great expense to the tax payer) - aaaaaaag.

Of course it's true! There's footage and pictures. Unless he tripped and fell and his hands landed on her arse and he kissed her to say thankyou for breaking his fall?

Can I just say though that the insults on this thread have really brightened up my morning.

I'm saving up "shit spangled arse wart" for the next time DH pisses me off.

MrsBunHat · 25/06/2021 08:05

Urgh fgs. Is “incompetent love rat” an actual requirement to run the country?

What I don’t get though is why Hancock didn’t do a massive flounce and resign at the “fucking useless” text, I mean how humiliating. How can he carry on working with Boris at all after that.

I have to admit I kind of love Cummings with his evil/nonchalant expression, big bag of evidence and slow-drip destruction. If he was in a novel he’d be too OTT.

drpet49 · 25/06/2021 08:05

** The OW has been close friends with him since uni - and was on the government payroll, having been appointed by him.

This isn't a private affair. This is a long running relationship (of some sort) culminating in her being appointed to a government posoiion she should never have been allowed anywhere near - because she is also a professional lobbyist. The public interest isn't that he has (presumably) been shagging her - it's that shagging her would appear to be one of the reasons she got such close government acess and money. Access/knowledge she then (presumably) sold onto her clients - directly or indirectly.

This government is shameful. Truly shameful.**

^Completelt agree. Gina Coladangelo should never have been appointed in the first place. But then I am sure she knew exactly what she was doing.

GappyValley · 25/06/2021 08:05

@Backhills

I actually feel sorry for him here. It's not like he's the only one.

"Someone" clearly has it in for him, which makes me think he's probably someone who wouldn't toe the line and knowing what we know about the people policing the line, that's probably a good thing.

I don't think he's got everything right during the crisis, but I do think he's been facing an impossible situation and has genuinely tried to do it with compassion, at the same time as having those who should have been supporting him undermining him. I don't know who could have walked into that job knowing exactly what to do. Health Secretary was always going to be something you couldn't succeed at during this time.

Wouldn’t toe the line?!

Have you seen a single interview or briefing he did at any point during the pandemic?

He couldn’t have been any more ‘party line’ if he had been wearing a ‘Boris’s #1 fan’ T-shirt while letting himself be walked into the press conference on a dog lead held by the PM Confused

Cam77 · 25/06/2021 08:06

@gaspode
Labour being off their game isn't "making" you vote Tory.

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 08:06

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g I agree. Wtf are Labour doing?!

Backhills · 25/06/2021 08:06

You've no idea what his home situation is, lots of high profile political marriages are all for show with wives well aware (I've no idea if that's the case here) but I do wonder at the ability to find the time!

LightasaBreeze · 25/06/2021 08:08

I wonder if they have held any back for the Sunday edition, that is what usually happens

SuperstoreFan · 25/06/2021 08:08

Why do people feel sorry for him, he's an MP who has been cheating on his wife during a pandemic when he should have been dwcoting all of his attention to the pandemic.

If someone posted that they felt sorry for OP"s husband who was having an affair they'd get their arse handed to them.

Douchebaggette · 25/06/2021 08:08

ha ha ha ha ha ha

Agree - Matt Hancock has been the party line personified. I originally read your line as "while letting himself be wanked into the press conference on a dog lead held by the PM" - which also rang true, somehow.

Creamteayesplease · 25/06/2021 08:09

I’m not a fan of Hancock, but I don’t agree that “morality matters” as far as having an affair is concerned. I’m more concerned as to his actual job performance and whether he has been lying to the cabinet and the public as Cummings has alleged.

SuperstoreFan · 25/06/2021 08:09

Devoting*

GhostTypeEevee · 25/06/2021 08:09

It seems a really silly thing to do in front of a CCTV camera, surely be would know where they are?

Is there any suggestion it's a hidden camera?

anon12345678901 · 25/06/2021 08:10

@Creamteayesplease

I have no interest in Matt Hancock’s private life or anybody else’s quite frankly. If he’s having an affair, that’s his business and he needs to answer to his wife. Why is his private life “news”, are we back in the 90s? People in high office and other walks of life do have affairs. The reporting of this is all about our entertainment and a chance to have a good gossip.

How he is performing in his job, on the other hand, is a completely separate matter.

I agree.
Northernlurker · 25/06/2021 08:10

I don't think it's asking too much of those in high office that they manage not to shag around. However Boris has no moral high ground whatsoever so I'm not sure he will take any action. Except to give Hancock advice on divorce lawyers.

I hope his wife chucks him out. Poor woman, she's now going to spend hours trying to work out when was he working late because of the pandemic and when was he shagging in the office.

He has a personal life too and is allowed time outside of working hours. What he does in those hours and with who is none of my concern.
CarpeVitam · 25/06/2021 08:11

@musicalfrog

My god. There are TWO women willing to snog him and he found them both? What are the chances. Confused
🤣
thepeopleversuswork · 25/06/2021 08:12

@Crowtooyo

His poor wife. I hate the media.
eh?

Powerful, incompetent man shagging woman he placed into a job she wasn't qualified for behind the back of his wife and kids and you blame the media?

Cam77 · 25/06/2021 08:12

@WouldBeGood
Not saying Labour has been good the last decade but remember Labour needs to be twice as good as the Tories given the media environment on Britain. What the media say about the parties cannot be taken at face value. The media would have taken down a Labour government over the utterly catastrophic handling of the pandemic last March-May. General Election and new leader for sure. The Tories meanwhile got little more than a slap on the wrist.

GappyValley · 25/06/2021 08:13

He has a personal life too and is allowed time outside of working hours. What he does in those hours and with who is none of my concern.

But you are aware that he was conducting the affair during working hours, in his ministerial office as evidenced by actual CCTV footage?!

wowhie · 25/06/2021 08:14

Wowsers, you couldn't make it up! Yiu would have thought he wouldn't have had the time

WouldBeGood · 25/06/2021 08:14

@Cam77 yes, but I’d like them at least to be a party I want to vote for. Had high hopes for Starmer but what a washout 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dailywalk · 25/06/2021 08:14

Where have they found the time is what I want to know? I don’t think running the country is as difficult as I once thought it might be.

billysboy · 25/06/2021 08:14

I doubt HM Queen will have as much sympathy for him now

StormzyinaTCup · 25/06/2021 08:15

Not excusing his behaviour in any way but CCTV in the corridors of Whitehall I can understand but in an office seems a bit much? Surely he would have known this and therefore, always the possibility it could be leaked at any point and especially when you are Scapegoat no.1 (and DC is after your arse). Either he knew and didn't care or he has been set up to be caught out. Just my initial thoughts but I expect more will come out.
