Why is his private life “news”, are we back in the 90s? People in high office and other walks of life do have affairs. The reporting of this is all about our entertainment and a chance to have a good gossip.

How he is performing in his job, on the other hand, is a completely separate matter.

Normally I'd I'd inclined to agree. But firstly she has been paid by taxpayers, secondly if it comes out that this was continuing back during the first lockdown where people were forced to spend months and months with no human contact, families unable to see each other then it most certainly isn't a separate matter.
