To ask if fake nails should look like this or should I go back to shop...

Had nails done on Sunday ready for wedding later this week, 3 days later and several nails look pretty untidy.
I don't often get nails done so wanting opinions if this is reasonable or if I should go back to shop and ask for them to redo the worst ones?
Was done by the manager herself, have been a few times over the last few years and always been happy.

Not really interested in opinions about extension in general, just whether these look like they were done shabby-ly or if this is normal 3 days later. Most nails look like the ones in the photos.

Thanks

Why is the tip so big 😳

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 22/06/2021 08:40

They are terrible. Not even just the fact they are lifting, they are a terrie shape.

helpmeeee11 · 22/06/2021 08:45

So annoying as I don't have any time to go back without my toddler now, so going to have to go through the whole conundrum with a bored toddler in the salon. Wish me luck Grin

Yes they look like Penney's glue on nails.
Why is the white tip taking up so much of the nail? Is that what you wanted or another mistake?

helpmeeee11 · 22/06/2021 08:47

I really hate complaining to people so thank you for the unanimous YANBU to back me up

I just asked for French tips, I didn't specify any special features

No they're not good. The shape and ratio of tip to bed is all wrong.

However, most salons I've been to say once you've left the shop you can't come back and complain so I'm not sure how far you'll get with this

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/06/2021 08:58

They are awful. I have acrylics on permanently and I would not be happy with those!

KateTheEighth · 22/06/2021 09:02

They are all kinds of wrong

Lifting off, messy and the "tips" are ridiculous

Remoulade · 22/06/2021 09:07

@Drbrowns

Have you been using loads of hand sanitizer? Last time I got my nails done, around September last year they told me to try and avoid the cuticles when putting in hand sanitizer as it dries them out and causes the nails to lift.
They actually told you to half arse sanitizing to keep your nails pretty?😱
Pandasarecool · 22/06/2021 09:09

This is my line of work. They’ve flooded the cuticle with product, they will soon lift left like that. And by the looks of it the white is so big because they’ve used white tips? rather than clear tips and created the white using product. They also look thicker than is usually acceptable.

OP they will definitely imply it's your fault but I don't think it is. If they were decent, they wouldn't be lifting at all unless you had your hands submerged in water for hours on end.

Hopefully they will redo them for you

helpmeeee11 · 22/06/2021 09:46

@Librariesmakeshhhhappen

They look ridiculous. It's not just how terribly applied they are; the design of the nails looks ridiculous. What were you going for? And why would you leave the salon looking like that?

It's like prom night for the chav 16 year olds with orange skin, lipliner drawn an inch away from their lips, eyebrows painted on and horrible fake nails.

😂😂😂

@Cabinfever10

The French Polish doesn't look right either I'm sorry to say
Yeah, very grannyish. Bad job OP, get a different technician to redo.
Hagqueen · 22/06/2021 09:50

They usually lift if the prep work wasn’t great (cuticles, removing oils from the nail) - or if you spend a long time in water.

That can only be responded to with ... did you mean to be so rude?
Atalune · 22/06/2021 10:32

I would also say the French polish is a little clumsy looking.

I would opt for a classics nude colour or red.

Hope you get them fixed!

Librariesmakeshhhhappen · 22/06/2021 10:38

@justanotherneighinparadise

Yes. I did. The salon have done a terrible job using a cheap looking, badly made product.

The OP admits all she asked for is white tops. She didnt choose that disaster. That's what they did TO HER. So yes. I did mean to he so rude about the terrible product she has been given by the salon.

I would not have left looking like that but it sort of sounds like the OP maybe doesnt get her nails done much so didnt feel confident in complaining.

Atalune · 22/06/2021 10:45

I think you’ve missed the point there @Librariesmakeshhhhappen I think your post is somewhat pejorative with your comments re “chavs”.

ApolloandDaphne · 22/06/2021 10:52

They look terrible. Definitely go back. Ask for a refund then go somewhere else to get them done properly.

Librariesmakeshhhhappen · 22/06/2021 10:56

@Atalune

I went to high school here when there very much was the distinction of the fake tanned, drawn on lips and eyebrows, Burberry wearing, fake nailed, gold hoop wearing chavs. It was like their uniform. very much was a thing during my high school years. And those nails were all up in there.

30scrisis · 22/06/2021 10:57

Sorry but they are shocking. I have my nails done fortnightly and they have never looked like this! The huge tip is the worst! I'm not sure you've got any comeback now you've left but definitely go elsewhere and get them redone...

k1233 · 22/06/2021 10:59

Agree the nail doesn't look correct. The french tip isn't balanced to the length of the nail.

There's a much nicer way to do french nails with a gradient / fade. It's a more modern look.

Even my home done nails look better than that I'm sorry to say. This is this weeks (the mauve + glitter). The others are screen shots. Quite like the cute lacey tip - really easy to do. The french fade looks fantastic. You can mix a whole bunch of colours when you do a fade. Not a nail expert, fun nails just make me happy Smile so I watch lots of videos and get inspiration pics.

Op did you have the white bit glued on and then the acrylic over the top? Or is the white bit painted on? If it's the first option I always find that there is too much white/pink when the white top is glued on.

I had acrylics for years and found that the next day I would get the flaky bits coming away at the edges yes. It usually came off quite easily and was more like acrylic residue rather than the actual nails lifting.

If you are going back, I would ask for clear tips with a painted French manicure. Looks much more natural.
