Can I take 14 month old in a hot tub?

We’re glamping this week and there’s a hot tub. If it’s 37 degrees, can we take 14 month old DS in there? I wasn’t sure what the rules are after they turn one, if it’s bath temperature, sorry if it’s dumb!

“Poor child”? Unnecessary and snobby comment to make. I asked a question, because I wasn’t sure. Knowing what I do now, I’m not going to do it. But there is no excuse for pure nastiness.

Not at 37degrees. If you can lower the temperature to lower 30s it could be a nice little swimming pool.

daytriptovulcan · 21/06/2021 18:37

Another no... Its a catastrophy waiting to happen

Sexnotgender · 21/06/2021 18:38

Absolutely not.

JellyTumble · 21/06/2021 18:38

Of course not! It’s not safe.

Fifilorax · 21/06/2021 18:39

No way!

pinkyredrose · 21/06/2021 18:41

Surely the other adults using it won't want babies in it?

GreyhoundG1rl · 21/06/2021 18:41

Why would you want to??

Okimbig · 21/06/2021 18:41

@pinkyredrose it’s a private hot tub

I don't understand these comments! We bath babies at 37°C... I personally wouldn't be that keen because you don't know how clean it is, but I can't see how it is that different to a swimming lesson where there are 8 babies peeing in the pool and god knows how many other members of the public and all the chemicals too...

Eatingsoupwithafork · 21/06/2021 18:43

I just don’t think it’ll be enjoyable for any of you it will be too deep for him and toddlers are so slippy when wet. I’d wait till he’s asleep then enjoy the hot tub with a glass of wine

ShinyGreenElephant · 21/06/2021 18:50

My 2yo gets in ours but not sure about one thats been used by all and sundry... she had swimming lessons though so not sure the difference other than the pool is only 34 degrees

cocoloco987 · 21/06/2021 18:55

At that age on a hot tub holiday I popped mine in arm bands and a small rubber ring and they bobbed. As previously said had it lower than the adult temperature plus they don't have their whole body submerged. Age limits tend to be for communal ones as you can't expect to lower the temperature when other adults are using it plus they probably don't want them there anyway. It would be pretty mean to have a mini swimming pool but not let dc in it

StoneofDestiny · 21/06/2021 19:01

Crikey - no!

diddlediddle · 21/06/2021 19:03

People have different attitudes to risk don't they.

We've taken our child younger than that in a hot tub. We kept her body mostly out of the water and she didn't stay in long. The temp was about 37, which is cooler than 49 which a lot of hot tubs are. The water in ours was fresh and we were the only users. We washed her well after to get the chlorine off. She was completely fine.

diddlediddle · 21/06/2021 19:03

40* not 49

Thehop · 21/06/2021 19:05

Our friends had their dc in their rental tubs as tiny babies. No telling them.

Sisisimone · 21/06/2021 19:07

Holy Fuck. This can't be real. No-one is this stupid surely.

Ozanj · 21/06/2021 19:07

Yes toddlers can use them. They aren’t very different to warm baby pools. But like baby pools they need to be covered and wearing a swim nappy (for sanitary reasons) so you won’t be able to keep them in there for more than 30mins due to the risk of overheating.

BearOfEasttown · 21/06/2021 19:08

YABU @Okimbig Hot tubs are pits of evil bile anyway.

Okimbig · 21/06/2021 19:09

I asked if he can go in a hot tub at bath temperature, not is it ok to drop him on his head

October2020 · 21/06/2021 19:09

@Sisisimone why? Seriously, why? I'm an extremely risk averse parent and it wouldn't have occurred to me to worry about this at 37°C.

GreyhoundG1rl · 21/06/2021 19:09

🤔. I'm sure you must have had some sort of reason for doing that but I'm failing to see the point?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 21/06/2021 19:16

@Okimbig

people who who have never been in a hot tub are the first to tell you what disgusting bacteria-ridden chavy sex ponds hot tubs are.
they ignore the facts that proper maintenance provides crystal clear & clean water, which is the same or better than the average pool also full of chemicals.

but you can't convince stupid.🤷‍♀️
your LO will be fine

How are you planning on stopping your baby from pissing in it?
