  • Can’t tolerate alcohol anymore- even a couple of drinks give me a massive hangover
  • Bread makes me massively bloated and I have to really watch what I eat as I get piled really easily 🙄
  • Chocolate gives me a headache
  • Tea gives me a massive headache
  • have to watch everything I eat as the slightest deviation and I put on half a stone by barely looking
  • the slightest deviation to my routine and I don’t sleep 😴

I feel like I barely recognise my own body!

Sigh- it’s SO dull!
Aibu to be really really really over perimenopause! Waiting for HRT from the doc and ready hope it helps!

Clumsiness and rage. I am all about clumsiness and rage these days. I make myself bloody furious most of the time. If I tried to recreate the stupendously stupid things I do, I wouldn't be able to. Everything annoys me. Plus the anxiety - waking up full of dread for no reason is no picnic either.

Justcallmebebes · 18/06/2021 21:32

Vit D, magnesium and primrose oil. Lots of moisturiser. exercise and lots of yoga. I'm 55 and that helped massively. Good diet too

Conchitastrawberry · 18/06/2021 21:35

I’m 3 or 4 years post menopause. I’m fine with alcohol and tea, coffee etc but the weight gain is ridiculous. I think I eat half what I used to but never lose weight. I was hoping the hot flushes and night sweats would have eased off but sadly not. I didn’t notice peri menopause, no real problem until my periods stopped. It’s grim!

PerseverancePays · 18/06/2021 21:36

I had hot flushes for ten years straight. I thought it’s a process, I’ll get through it with a few herbs and supplements. They probs work for people who ‘are sailing through’ .
The lack of sleep was the worst.
So I tried bio identical hormones and in four days the flushes stopped and I slept. Expensive, as it’s private healthcare, but brought me back from the brink. I’ll be on them for the rest of my life as all those hormones are needed for a healthy old age.

ArabellaScott · 18/06/2021 21:36

Can't eat too much salt! Can't drink too much coffee! Watch the cheese, don't sit in one position too long, don't think too hard before bedtime, write everything down, lose the fucking list, swear far too fucking much, wake up at the arse crack of dawn, don't eat sugar for god's sake, or too many nuts, or breathe wrong.

It's shit.

Part of me is dying to go on a bender and stay up all night drinking strong tea, eating blue cheese on white bread and smoking fags til I puke, but I feel shit just thinking about it and can't even countenance feeling any shitter.

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 18/06/2021 21:37

Found my people.

41 here
Longer periods
Cranky
Tired a lot more
Fatter a lot more
Intolerance a lot more
Anxiety a lot more

Such bullshit
Hmm

I've just started walking for weight loss and fitness and I take a well women vit as well as bit d capsules and have a magnesium spray.

I get horrendous restless legs when my thyroid levels drop too low and sometimes I wanna scream.

How long before I seek help with any form of hormone or is it off the cards as I'm on thyroxine as have Graves' disease?

ArabellaScott · 18/06/2021 21:39

A couple of months ago the fucking puppy escaped, in the dark, I tore outside to chase her, the kids had pulled some bloody hovercraft/skateboard things out of a skip and left them in the drive, I fell over them, took all the skin off my hand, knee and ankle, DP got home to find me rolling about on the ground screaming at the dog, bleeding, swearing and rage-crying.

Honestly, I'm an utter embarrasment to myself but it just makes me rage more.

helpmebeanadult · 18/06/2021 21:41

How long does perimenopause last?

DelurkingAJ · 18/06/2021 21:47

@namcybotwinbloom I had my coil replaced very recently (aged 41) and asked how I’d spot entering the menopause. The very lovely Dr said I’d know regardless and that if I was less than 45 I should make an appointment as it would be classed as early and they’d want to see me.

bestbefore · 18/06/2021 21:48

My fun peri symptom this month has been dropping things...whole cups of water, part of the dinner, loads of things. And awful skin, no sleep and bloating. Had a 1 day yucky period as well.

purrswhileheeats · 18/06/2021 21:49

I agree with @Justcallmebebes

Exercise especially yoga and Pilates makes such a difference; women should be doing this well before menopause. Strengthens bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments, improves mental health too.

*@PerseverancePays* what are bioidentical hormones if ou don't mind me asking? sea thing as HRT?
Pinkcadillac · 18/06/2021 21:49

Same thing sorry

NotTodaySatanNotToday · 18/06/2021 21:51

Am 42 and am sure I've been peri for years. Went to Dr years ago and blood test showed I was peri but repeat was normal. Symptoms lessened for a bit but I've had over 6 serious utis in the past few years. It wasn't until the past few weeks I started with severe sweating on my neck again and my period went AWOL googled symptoms and I tick off so many of them, (didn't realise UTIs were a sign) so I've econsulted my dr to see if I can have the blood test again.

namcybotwinbloom · 18/06/2021 21:56

Thanks @DelurkingAJ I will get booking

romany4 · 18/06/2021 21:57

I had to stop drinking alcohol completely. Gives me an instant migraine. Even with just a few sips..

DariaANDJane · 18/06/2021 21:57

@Diversion your post really made me laugh! I don't think I could even bring myself to look at CCTV footage of myself. The horror!

I've just started HRT patches. One week in. Fingers crossed it helps a bit. I phoned the GP with a very long list of symptoms. She said lets start the HRT and see what's left on your list ailments at the end of 3 months Grin

I feel sorry for my family. I am a fucking monster most of the time....

RampantIvy · 18/06/2021 21:58

I just want to give you some hope. I am the other side of this, and it does get better.

I found the migraines debilitating, but I rarely get them now.

Sixsillysausagessizzlinginapan · 18/06/2021 22:00

Omg how old are you. I feel like this but I'm only 32 🙊
Please tell me it stops soon.
I'm a horrible cunt at the moment 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sittingonabench · 18/06/2021 22:03

Erm… well this is scary. Nightmares tonight. Keep going you wonderful women. I wish you a restful night Flowers

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 18/06/2021 22:05

I forgot about the clumsiness.

I literally fall over my own feet all the time,I fell out of the loft last week and shamefully it isn't the first time Blush

At least once a day I'm shouting my dh to tell him I've had an accident and broken something.

Most recent this week was the kitchen digital food scales which I managed to bounce off the worktop and shatter all over the floor.

Cleaned up the glass and sliced my foot on it at the same time. Went to jump in shower to rinse feet and cool down and got weighing scales out to see if my rabbit diet has actually done anything at all and smashed them against the bathroom sink whilst getting them out SadConfused

I am a liability to myself and others right now Shock

FourTurnings · 18/06/2021 22:05

Yes OP yes and yes.
I used to love a drink.

Thecazelets · 18/06/2021 22:06

Similar for me. In my 50s and was denied HRT when I asked for it a few weeks ago; apparently I am 'not menopausal enough' as still have regular periods and am not depressed. Mood swings, palpitations, breast pain, rage, insomnia, weight gain, fatigue, joint pain, bloating and feelings of constant dread not bad enough apparently.

FlyingPandas · 18/06/2021 22:06

Yep. I’m 49 and sympathising with a lot of this.

I’m not sleeping well, have random irrational anxiety, no desire to ever have sex ever again and feel hot and stroppy a lot of the time. I’ve never sworn so much in my life!

Things that are helping (a bit)

  • being honest to DH and dc about how I’m feeling
  • cutting down on alcohol and sugar
  • trying to exercise daily (swimming is helping massively).

But overall it’s shite and horrible. Flowers to you all.
