Smelly feet in summer sandals

There is no messing about here my feet smell. They always have and probably always will. They get well washed and looked after, wear decent leather shoes, change them regularly and allowing them to dry out, cleaning both shoe and foot and wear cotton socks. I don't have athletes foot or anything like that and have tried all the strong overnight deodorants you can buy. I just have massively sweaty feet (and hands) and they literally kick up a stink.

Now that's the back story over with. I want sandles I have never been brave enough to wear them but I'm so hot at the moment I just want something cool. WIBU to wear some sandles? I work in an office without air con and everyone else looks so nice and cool with their feet out and I have mine cooking in little hidden socks with ether ballet pumps or brogues on.

How do people stop their feet from smelling? Sometimes I have to change shoes and socks and have a mid day wash because I can smell them even with my shoes on Blush

Name change because it was appropriate

Is it just your feet that smell or do you notice your other sweet (pits, back etc) smells?

MikeWozniaksGloriousTache · 17/06/2021 19:18

Sweat*

Feelingbad2 · 17/06/2021 19:25

I get really sweaty feet, I get sweaty everything, I have hyperhidrosis. Luckily as I’ve got older my feet don’t smell 🤔 I do struggle with sandals though as my feet slip around in them! They also get mega dirty because any dust/dirt flying around sticks to my feet 🙄

Feelingbad2 · 17/06/2021 19:28

I’ve had Botox in my pits twice and it didn’t work enough to go through the pain of it (they inject it over and over and over 😓)

Myfeetsmell · 17/06/2021 19:41

An ex housemate had
This issue
You need several pairs of shoes and you need to rotate them - it just have a pair for 6 months
Buy 4 pairs, 2 of each style and swop them over half way thru the day and then rotate the next day with the other style

Do not just wear one pair continuously for 6 months if the soles
Are rotting away
That's awful [/quote]
I have multiple pairs and I rotate they still rot away. The sole always starts crumbling after about 6 weeks. The moisture my feet make mixed with my foot rubbing and the drying out and getting wet again doesn't make shoes last long I'm not sure how long they would last if I wore the same pair every day I suspect a few weeks at most but it would be very disgusting.

I'm a bit smelly at the moment after being in a hot car on the motorway stuck in traffic and before that a hot humid office with no AC but I think that's fairly normal.

All you need to do is think differently. Your feet are beautiful. Priceless even.

Whatever you do DO NOT buy Hotter sandals!!!!!!!! I can also be whiffy of foot but it's settled down loads over the last few years. In 2019 I found a beautiful pair of Hotter sandals, I wore them for 2 weeks, 60 fucking pounds for 2 weeks wear!!! They stunk, I tried the bicarb, spraying stuff in them, nothing worked! I'm currently on to my second summer with a lovely pair of Hush Puppies and not even a whiff, even better they only cost me £15 in the sale!

Looubylou · 17/06/2021 20:06

Odour Eaters Foot and Shoe spray is fabulous. Used it for years as a nurse.

Which ones do you have? I was looking but they all look a bit slippy

Sweat itself doesn't really smell that bad. It's the bacteria that live on sweat that makes it smell. If you're feet are still smelling when you get right of the shower it would suggest to me that there is something else going on here rather than simply sweaty feet.

Honestly, I would see a GP in the first instance and then maybe a dermatologist.

ShakespearesSisters · 17/06/2021 21:52

I bought a pair of birkenstock lana sandals a couple of weeks ago. I used yo wear ballet crocs all the time but my feet have become horrendously sweaty that I was sliding in them, damp in socks and trainers but at least not slidy.. These have been great. No sweaty feet so far and they look great as have a little heel.

Hax · 17/06/2021 21:59

I haven't read the full thread but... surgical spirit.
Very cheap. Soak your feet once a day and it works like magic.

ScottishNewbie · 17/06/2021 22:08

My feet used to smell when I wore ballet flats all the time!
I threw them away and now only wear sandals in the summer and I would be happy for my fiance to sniff my feet any day lol

Lovely cool, breezy sandals will change your life!

HushingDusk · 18/06/2021 09:29

I put antiperspirant on my feet, and powder them. I’ve always done that. Also changing shoes daily.

Myfeetsmell · 18/06/2021 10:12

Today I have
Washed my feet well including a scrub with a brush which is my usual foot wash method but with an antibac bar of soap
Sprayed with deodorant but I'm still waiting for my Amazon order of Peditech but that's not due until Wednesday
Given my shoe a shake with bicarb
Moisture wicking socks on
Leather shoes on that have not been worn for 3 days so have had a good airing and time to 'dry'
I have another pair of socks and leather shoes in the car to change into this afternoon that have had the same bicarb treatment and haven't been worn for a few days ether
So far so good but it's early and I haven't removed my shoes yet.. So I will report back on the foot stink situation later.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and support it's so good to know I'm not the only one Flowers

I'm trying antibacterial hand wash, a nail brush and pumice, and so far so good.

LivingLaVidaCovid · 18/06/2021 10:50

Hibiscrub on my feet.
Every time I shower.

BashfulClam · 18/06/2021 11:37

I always use dettol soap as it helps and a medicated powder after a shower. I use peditech too although it does smell strange, like damp leaves it’s better than stinky feet. The problem can also be shoes, even if you let them rest once your feet warm up again they smell…

Catlover77 · 19/06/2021 03:36

@bigbluecup

I use driclor on my feet (and armpits, and hands, and back etc etc) and swear by it. It itches at first but stick with it and it can work miracles I promise. There’s also a deodorant called Trust which people swear by but I’ve not tried it yet
Another recommendation for driclor. It takes a bit of getting used to (itching and redness) but persevere as it works
Misty999 · 19/06/2021 06:09

Loving this thread I also think I have this although my feet don't smell just absolutely drip, as OP said flip flops slide off it's impossible to walk up a hill feet slide out 😂 Iv found that over time shoes do begin to smell. Iv just bought Birkenstock's with the crossover toes very comfy so will see how long they last before they start to stink. I also have the widest feet that swell x

Misty999 · 19/06/2021 06:21

Also worth checking out the hyperhidrosis site they have a shop on there with some foot antiperspirant, haven't tried it myself
