I'm not interested in football but I think this

OP posts:
diddl · 16/06/2021 16:09

@stackemhigh

I saw that last night and he's totally right. How can Coca Cola be allowed to be brand of football, crazy.
Well it's the same as McDonald's sponsoring sporting events isn't it?

Should it not be allowed?

Or should it be assumed that people realise that this stuff isn't suddenly healthy just because the company is sponsoring a sporting event?

CreamPantsuit · 16/06/2021 16:10

Man

CreamPantsuit · 16/06/2021 16:10

Man drinks water not coke - hailed as hero.

The bar is low.

Also isn't fruit evil on Mumsnet?

LST · 16/06/2021 16:11

@DaphneMoonsSeattle

He loves himself enough for the both of you Grin
You're not wrong there
EmeraldShamrock · 16/06/2021 16:13

Why should he get credit for saying something obvious if people don't know drinking water is better they're a bit silly.

TruffleShuffles · 16/06/2021 16:15

He was quite happy to take the Coca Cola money earlier on in his career.

EmeraldShamrock · 16/06/2021 16:16

If he spoke about the constant gambling problems caused by a result of advertising campaign by bookmakers around sport and the effects on WC families he may get my praise

PixieDust28 · 16/06/2021 16:17

Okay OP 😂..

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/06/2021 16:19

YABU

I can't stand him, all Ronaldo cares about is Ronaldo.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 16/06/2021 16:19

Meh.

I like the move, but it's not altruistic. He's been sponsored by Pepsi, and KFC.

And he loves the media attention; which this got...

But it did seem to inspire Pogba to move an alcohol-free Heineken that had been placed in front of him at a press conference this morning, so that's a good thing. It may have been alcohol-free, but it's not really in the spirit...

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/06/2021 16:19

yup, total attention whore

Frownette · 16/06/2021 16:21

Is Pepsi honestly that much healthier than coke? If at all?

Midnightballerina · 16/06/2021 16:22

Yah, paid off a Woman in a sexual assault case, brought babies off their mothers but that's OK at least he doesn't drink Coke. What a guy!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 16/06/2021 16:26

@Frownette

Is Pepsi honestly that much healthier than coke? If at all?
@Frownette

no clue, but it tastes better

RusholmeRuffian · 16/06/2021 16:27

Jesus, you're easily pleased. He's a wrong 'un whatever he drinks.

Stigofthedump40 · 16/06/2021 16:28

Oh come on.. he is a fit sportsman and that is a sugar loaded calorific drink.. surely it is common sense

VapeVamp12 · 16/06/2021 16:31

His interview with Piers Morgan (sorry for swearing) was quite informative actually. His dad is an alcoholic and they were brought up with practically nothing.

I dont know anything about the buying babies thing as other PP's have said so I think I will have a google now.

the80sweregreat · 16/06/2021 16:32

The Olympics has had mc Donald's ads up before now, most sponsors of these big tournaments are fast food companies, coco cola , Pepsi etc.
He has been paid handsomely to promote fried chicken. Why remove the coke bottles? Seems a bit off to me.
He has a dubious character in regards to women as well. Well documented.
A great player, but everything else about him isn't as good.

Whyhello · 16/06/2021 16:32

Didn’t he have three children via surrogate while he was a single man who were raised by his Mother? Strange man.

Frownette · 16/06/2021 16:35

@Whyhello that is odd Grin

Penistoe · 16/06/2021 16:36

He has paid women to grow and birth children for him, which he then removes at birth. They are deliberately denied their mother.

Is mumsnet anti surrogacy? What about Elton John and all the other gay fathers who have had children via surrogacy?

I don’t know about the rape allocations but lumping in a bracket with his
Surrogacy is very offensive to the many parents who have had children this way.

WettyHainthrop · 16/06/2021 16:36

He’s an awful human. I assume you knew nothing about his conduct around women and who his sponsors were, if this makes you love him…

SmidgenofaPigeon · 16/06/2021 16:38

@Penistoe yeah it can be anti-surrogacy- but if we break surrogacy down, what is it other than renting a woman’s womb and using them as a commodity to fulfil your wants and needs, in most, if not all cases?

EmeraldShamrock · 16/06/2021 16:39

Is mumsnet anti surrogacy?
Yes.

grapewine · 16/06/2021 16:42

The bar for men is seriously low.

It's depressing. If they had paid him more than Pepsi does, he would have had laughed all the way to the bank.
