To think that it is absolutely unforgivable for the Prime Minister to have a Health Secretary in place during a deadly pandemic whom he thinks is 'totally f---ing hopeless'?

Just that really.

news.sky.com/story/boris-johnson-called-matt-hancock-totally-f-hopeless-in-whatsapp-message-cummings-says-12333915

The worst is that I am almost beyond being shocked.

Whole thing is head shakingly disgraceful, really. Corrupt to the core. Now we know why Johndon was so loathe to fire Cummings earlier.

But has anyone ever looked at Hancock and thought "Well he looks like a competent sort"?

Scarby9 · 16/06/2021 15:27

Just leaving this here...

Frazzled2207 · 16/06/2021 15:28

@RoseRedRoseBlue

Let’s hope this finally blows the lid off the entire charade
It won’t though. It’s just proof of what lying useless toads they have, part 647 Public opinion apparently doesn’t change They won’t sack anyone and just carry on
SofiaMichelle · 16/06/2021 15:29

But has anyone ever looked at Hancock and thought "Well he looks like a competent sort"?

No. But I've also looked at the Labour alternative to him and thought, "Thank fuck..!".

edwinbear · 16/06/2021 15:30

I'm sure we've all referred to colleagues as 'hopeless' when we're under pressure at work and things aren't going well, even when said colleague, isn't actually hopeless at all - it's venting. I doubt he does actually believe he's hopeless.

Lostinacloud · 16/06/2021 15:32

Hancock is just the ready to go scapegoat for Boris. All goes well and the population are happy, Hancock is hailed as a master. Things go tits up and Hancock is perfectly placed to take the fall.

DynamoKev · 16/06/2021 15:35

@Livingtothefull

Boris Johnson was saying recently that he had 'full confidence' in Hancock www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-57276006

So he must have been lying then....quelle surprise.

Doesn't "full confidence" mean "fired soon" in most areas?
HeddaGarbled · 16/06/2021 15:36

I’ve always assumed that Matt Hancock was doing whatever Boris Johnson told him to in order to keep his job and that Johnson will dump Hancock in the shit once he has no further use for him.

There was a moment early on when Hancock could have chosen truth and doing the right thing over keeping his job, but once he’d made the choice to lie to the country and Parliament at the behest of his boss, he’d missed that moment.

I've never referred to anyone as hopeless (at work). Why would you say that if you didn't think it? Makes no sense at all.
ancientmammal · 16/06/2021 15:37

They are all a bunch of tossers

Totally fucking hopeless just about sums up the pandemic responseHmm

I do think MH is one of the better ones when you think or Rabb, Truss, Williamson, Shapps. But the bar is pretty low. I think labour’s health guy, Ashworth, is excellent. Actually focussed on the job in hand not his own pr.
Eviebeans · 16/06/2021 15:40

Can I think of one of them who I would trust to take care of my dog...🤔

Eviebeans · 16/06/2021 15:41

It's easy to talk the talk when you're in opposition

I think you are being most unfair. Hancock is clearly completely hopeless as health secretary, and there is really no point debating that. But I understand that he is one of the star performers as far as the only criteria that matters for this government = enriching oneself, ones sister and ones mates.

Agree with that. But while some of the Labour front bench are fairly dozy I think they’re generally people with integrity who don’t try and twist the truth
jgw1 · 16/06/2021 15:48

I am not sure that some of the current government try and twist the truth. They simply don't know what being honest and telling the truth mean.

Eviebeans · 16/06/2021 15:50

Used to be a labour party member years ago. I think it's fair to say that nobody would have been rushing to be in charge during the pandemic. Its easy to say what you would or wouldn't have done when you don't have to say how you'd finance it, face the consequences of the outcome and explain why it all cost so much at the end.

LemmysAceCard · 16/06/2021 15:50

I dont trust any of them

Funny how Cummings was happy to stomach all the lies and half truths whilst still pulling BoJos strings but once cast out has decided he cant live with all the lies and has to share them with the media.

Sorry dont trust the weasel, happy enough to be involved with the lies when it suited him but now trying to put the boot in by revealing all as he was sacked. Tosser.

Eviebeans · 16/06/2021 15:53

BJ has shown himself to be a really bad judge of character if nothing else

CoRhona · 16/06/2021 15:57

The whole bunch are lying and would throw their grandmothers under the bus to save themselves - Johnson, Hancock, Cummings, Gove, Patel etc etc

yearoflostyouth · 16/06/2021 16:00

I can’t work out what Boris is agreeing about when he says ‘Agree about Vallance and Whitty’
???ignore their advice??? - this was 20 March after all and PV and CW had advised the government to lockdown a week or so at least before this.

butterpuffed · 16/06/2021 16:16

Cummngs is just a slimey little shit who's out for revenge.

IsThePopeCatholic · 16/06/2021 16:17

This government are a load of entitled charlatans. Totally untrustworthy and corrupt.

LakieLady · 16/06/2021 16:22

YABU, OP, but only because, in saying this, Johnson was actually telling the truth for once.

For that, he should be commended, in the hope that he does it more often.

DogsSausages · 16/06/2021 16:29

He just happened to have kept private wattsapp messages for a year, why? He was happy to be on the payroll. Why didnt he speak up sooner or leave if it was so awful. What is DC doing now, has he got another job.
