I am writing this to read back in one year

I am writing this to read back in six months. You don’t have to read it, but I know that this will motivate me to keep going.

I am 5’4 and 19 stone. I have been dealing with horrific postnatal for one year and have gained six stone since birth.

I am deeply unhappy and am self conscious. I no longer make an effort with myself and my clothes are all huge. I have a double chin that makes me hate my face.

I was never like this. I was always slim and happy, my goal and natural weight being 10 stone.

Yesterday, I started a keto diet, because I am desperate to keep it up. And I am vowing to keep doing this and beyond getting to my target weight.

I know it will happen in steps and that’s okay, but I can’t be this way any more. I am unhealthy and anxious about leaving the house and even sitting in public chairs in case they break. This isn’t healthy.

I have a child who I need to be here for, so I am doing this for him as much as myself.

In six months, I hope to have lost four stone, and by one year, or even two, I hope to be back to where I was.

I hope I come back to read this when I am happy in who I am, and what I am.

Good luck!!! I'm same weight as you with the same amount to lose and I'm giving myself a year too so you're not alone!!

indecisivewoman81 · 17/06/2021 22:18

Good luck!! You can do it!

ccroft · 17/06/2021 22:18

Good luck OP you can do it!!

Gameofbones · 17/06/2021 22:22

I’ve ordered the weight loss jab and start it tomorrow have 4 stone to lose.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/06/2021 22:37

Weight loss jab?

Wallywobbles · 17/06/2021 22:40

Read the Jason Fung the obesity code book. It'll really help you on your journey.

Gameofbones · 17/06/2021 22:47

Saxenda it’s called. I read about it on here first. It’s pricey but I’m just hoping it will give me the boost I need. I’ve been dieting constantly putting on same amount of weight and losing it.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 17/06/2021 22:52

It sounds tempting.

I would have to research it though. All meds have to cleared by work and any side effects could make it a no-no.

Away to look. Thank you.

Okimbig · 18/06/2021 08:27

18 stone 8. Officially half a stone down!

@sheepysheep what an amazing achievement. It's so impressive. Thanks for sharing your height.. it's really helpful to me as a sort of guide.

What eating plan did you do?
I do loads of exercise but it's food and wine that gets me every time!

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 18/06/2021 08:51

Good luck, OP. One step at a time, and you’ll get there.

sheepysheep · 18/06/2021 09:41

@Liverbird77 I don’t really drink as I got out of the habit after trying to be / being pregnant / BF for such a long time. Food is simple - usually eggs for breakfast and meat / fish plus green veg / salad plus butter / olive oil / Mayo for lunches and dinners. The main thing is to make sure you have things at hand to eat so you don’t make bad choices in the heat of the hungry moment! That can be things like deli meats, olives, boiled eggs. I’m also a big fan of crust less quiche as you can just nibble away at it and it’s handy for picnics / packed lunches. I drink coffee with cream and my treats are nuts and very dark chocolate. I sometimes make protein shakes with a bit of Greek yogurt in if I’ve done a long bike ride. Living in the middle of nowhere helps as there’s no take always / shops / pubs within walking distance!

I travel a lot for work and I’ve never had a problem substituting the carby element of meals with green stuff when eating out. M&S simply food shops at service stations are brilliant for for on the hoof eating.

I have yoyoed with weight all my life and this is the only diet that has consistently worked, been easy and not involved hunger and constant weighing / checking. The weight fell off me and I’m not the only one - if you head to the low carb boot camp thread in the weight loss section you’ll see lots of other success stories too. There is information galore, recipes and an ongoing chat / support thread. There are also several LCHF “boot camps” every year where you can sign up and join in with supporting each other (optional weekly weigh ins).

It really does work and the science is pointing towards it being a very healthy way of eating. Good luck to anyone trying this for the first time, you’ll not look back!

Awesome work! Goats cheese is delish!

EmeraldShamrock · 18/06/2021 10:08

You've a great mindset. 👏
You're not alone.
I not on a weight-loss journey, my life is in tatters needing an overhaul too
You've inspired me OP.
I don't know your financial situation? My friend was battling against her weight for years, she had a gastric sleeve abroad she's down 3 stone she is fitter and never hungry she is a new person.

FlumpyLump · 18/06/2021 10:20

I am 5ft 7. In January, I weighed 25 stone 7 lbs. I lost a stone by the middle of February taking me down to 24 stone 7lbs.
I did that using slimming world meals from Iceland. I then gave up till the 12th of April.
I had a bit of a wobble and doubted myself.
My friend introduced me to intermittent fasting as she had lost a lot of weight doing that.
Since April 12th, I have lost a further 3 stone and I have just completed a 100km walk for Sands Charity. I have walked 230 miles since April 12th as well.
Don't get me wrong, I have a long way to go and I puff, pant and sweat the whole time, but I fully intend on carrying on.
I have been heckled whilst out speed walking several times. The usual "Oi Oi Fatty", or "Run fatty Run" are the go to comments I usually hear shouted at me. I want to cry every time, but I will still carry on.
Good luck OP. You are doing really well. You got this!!

You are amazing. Please change your username to JumpyJump Grin

I am so sorry you get cat called. As the advert says - you are always a lap ahead of the people on the sofa even if you are struggling to walk one block.

Liverbird77 · 18/06/2021 11:19

@sheepysheep thank you again for such a detailed answer. I'll have a look at the low carb bootcamp as you suggest. I mean, you're living proof that it works, so I will give it a go!

@FlumpyLump good on you! I can't believe you've been shouted at, that's bloody disgraceful.

GreyhoundG1rl · 18/06/2021 11:33

Flumpy You lost three stone in two months?? How amazing is that!

Ijustlikedthename · 18/06/2021 11:45

I'd be careful with that. One of the side effects is thyroid cancer!
Catswithflamingos · 18/06/2021 13:55

Good luck OP. Keto is a great way to burn fat fast and I can’t wait to come back in 6 months and see how you are doing.

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 18/06/2021 18:43

Good luck to you! I wish you well
