Bungee jumping.
Sky diving.
Hate heights and i'd pay NOT to do those things!
Anything else?

Also @Blossomtoes that poster mentioned NORTH Korea not south.

Really not the same thing Hmm

DeathByWalkies · 09/06/2021 12:37

@Blossomtoes

Prepare to be stared and pointed at in Korea *@DeathByWalkies*. My son says he’s never felt more conspicuous than he did in S Korea.
I did once - very briefly, unplanned, odd story - visit South Korea and yes I was definitely stared at! There were clearly some foreign tourists to the area though as one bar had a sign outside saying, biligually, "Koreans only, no foreigners"!

The locals were ultimately very polite to my face, and many appeared thrilled I'd learned one word of Korean (thank you) which I threw around liberally along with the "point and mime" method of international communication. This did lead a couple of them to start speaking to me in very rapid Korean until they realised that my nodding and smiling meant I hadn't understood a word Grin

Both countries are very monocultural, and @Blossomtoes definitely has a point. I imagine it's very similar to what happened when a non-white tourist turned up in the UK before mass tourism and migration was the norm.

I did spot a banner advertising a concert with Paul Potts (remember him?) while I was in Seoul which was frankly bizarre Grin

  • Bungee jump - it can cause lasting whiplash and some people puke after it!
  • Go on a Cruise- you're not really staying in a country and getting to know it plus a very high number of cruise ship journeys are affected by Norovirus- yeuck! (my emetophobia might be affecting my choices here!)
  • Climb kilimanjaro or similar
  • Do an Ironwoman triathlon/ultra marathon- just no! I don't need other people to be impressed by how much my body can do, to the extent of potentially harming myself. I might do a normal Marathon run or a shorter run if fit enough.
  • Visit India- because of my fear of Delhi-belly and I think I'd find seeing people living in absolute poverty quite upsetting (which I guess is selfish of me because people are living like that whether or not I see it!)
  • Eat street food (because of my fear of food poisoning)
  • Go to Glastonbury/similar - toilets, crowds etc.
SmidgenofaPigeon · 09/06/2021 12:45

@DeathByWalkies possibly- and yes there are some major cultural differences that can be a bit overwhelming to a tourist- and it’s not as geared towards mass tourism as other Asian countries for sure. I think as I was in a workplace and living as a citizen it was probably a slightly different experience than being a tourist. I did learn to speak passable Korean, but couldn’t have read or written it.

Wrotten · 09/06/2021 12:46

Going to Thailand.

Oldpeoplesprinting · 09/06/2021 12:49

Did I read correctly that someone on here has Weymouth on their actual bucket list?!

I think you’ll be very disappointed… it’s just a bland seaside town like a million others!

Okbye · 09/06/2021 12:51

Running a marathon - or even a 5k 😄
Climbing Everest - just no 😳

Iamnotminterested · 09/06/2021 12:53

Couldn't not include this gem.

Things that are not on my bucket list.
PussGirl · 09/06/2021 13:06

Definitely don't want to bungee-jump or sky-dive
I'd abseil or hang-glide instead

No to Everest or any other very high mountain - I've had altitude sickness in the Alps Grin - Ben Nevis would be good though

VeganVeal · 09/06/2021 13:10

Dogging

SingingSands · 09/06/2021 13:28

Disneyland / Universal etc

Always been a hard no from me when invited by family.

Nearly fell out with PIL who wanted us to go with them years ago and take the kids, but it was September, they'd be in school. Apparently we were "denying them a magical childhood experience" and it was "their right" to go to Disney. Well we couldn't afford the flights, accommodation, spending money or annual leave required so it really wouldn't have been magical for anyone!

ConsuelaHammock · 09/06/2021 13:45

Anything Disney related
Vegas
Marathons
Bungee jumping or sky diving
Dolphins
I don’t like the idea of a cruise on the ship but would love to visit lots of places on one holiday.

I’d like to visit Russia , Iceland and India and I’d love to take flying lessons.

LakieLady · 09/06/2021 13:56

A date with Boris Johnson.

I'd kick the bucket to avoid it.

SwimBaby · 09/06/2021 14:00

A lot of you wouldn’t like my second favourite holiday ever, a Disney Cruise!
My favourite was Cape Town.

Viviennemary · 09/06/2021 14:02

No to Bungee jumping. Wanted to go on a hot air balloon ride once but too chicken now. Same with Safari. Dont fancy being charged by a rogue bull elephant or facing a lion up close.

June2021 · 09/06/2021 14:14

Seeing people riding elephants in Thailand or anywhere feels me with disgust as does seeing tourists posing with Lions, Tigers etc anywhere - usually drugged up (the cats not the tourists, though they should be).

No to bungee

Lying on a beach all day long - no chance too boring

Spidey66 · 09/06/2021 14:15

@SmidgenofaPigeon

Oh, and Las Vegas, don’t see the appeal at all, but I appreciate I’m not the kind of person who would enjoy the constant lights/noise/craziness
I've done Vegas. You're not missing much. It's Blackpool, but in the desert. Tacky tacky tacky. My husband's mate loves it but I hate it.
June2021 · 09/06/2021 14:15

@VeganVeal

Dogging
Do people actually have dogging on a bucket list - watch someone having sex outside - odd list
belinda789 · 09/06/2021 14:21

@ DidgeDoolittle and @ ApolloandDaphne
Going on a cruise
How I agree with you……
Being with a lot of people that I have absolutely nothing in common with.
Seasickness. Yes I have crossed the North Sea; more than once. Even the Captain was sick on one ship I was on.
I would be a constant target of the ship’s bore. You can’t escape anyone on a ship unless you hide in your cabin a lot.
It’s not all hot sunshine and the sea being like a millpond – believe me. Pack some oilskins. You will need them.
The ever-present chance of the ship going down and drowning.
Pessimistic, I know but I have been on ships and I have good reason to not like them for recreation, so I would rather holiday on dry land thanks…….

RedthroatedCaracara · 09/06/2021 14:25

Pot-holing.
Not for a £million.
Not for £10million.

FalconQueen · 09/06/2021 14:26

Mine is seeing the Northern Lights. Once upon a time it was probably magical and amazing but I feel like I have seen them so much on pictures /the tv that the real thing would be underwhelming. Also I don't like the cold/snow so am not prepared to stand outside in the cold for hours waiting for them.

My others are things other people have already mentioned, Safaris and anything involving heights.

looptheloopinahulahoop · 09/06/2021 21:53

Other than running a 5k which I do for fun, I agree with everything on this thread I think. Including marathon running which is just bonkers.

Definitely not Las Vegas, or Maldives, or anything involving heights. Or as I am sitting here recovering from a rather nasty stomach bug at the moment, cruises or any countries that give you the dreaded Delhi belly.

Aposterhasnoname · 09/06/2021 22:22

Anything remotely connected to tents, heights or water.

lastqueenofscotland · 09/06/2021 22:28

Skydiving
Any mountaineering that can’t be done alpinist style (which rules out all the big ones)
Dubai
Swimming with dolphins imo is cruel

I have run several marathons and ultra marathons and would recommend. Ultra marathons are just eating competitions with some running (and a lot of walking) thrown in.
