What would you do if you won the lottery?

Moneys always been a struggle for me. I despised school due to bullying and because of this I bunked off quite a lot. I didn't sit any of my GCSE's. Work wise there hasn't been many opportunities because I had no qualifications leaving school. I currently work full time earning just above minimum wage in an entry level job. It's ok, it pays the bills but that's about it. I have no disposable income once my rent and bills have been paid every month (like many people).
It's a constant slog. I live in a lovely flat in a nice enough area but I absolutely hate renting, I feel like I might as well throw money down the toilet once a month. I'm desperate to get on the property ladder but it's just so difficult trying to save whilst paying rent/bills at the same time. It will take me years to save up a half decent deposit. Jesus, they don't make it easy for people do they?

Anyway, this wasn't suppose to be a sympathy post. If I won the lottery, I'd definitely buy myself a house, nothing extravagant. I'd love to live in a cottage with a wood burner. I would give my family money, especially my mum so she could retire (only 3 years left bless her). My auntie as well because she's a single mum and also struggles. I currently work in a nursery and have worked in a few different settings over the years which (in my opinion) have been terrible. I'd love to open up my own child care setting because of this. A few holiday destinations might even be on the cards too, New York being one of them.

Would love to hear what other people would spend their winnings on? (If you're lucky enough to win Wink). Light hearted post! Money isn't everything.

Buy myself a nice big house with a huge garden. Change my car. Give my family a decent amount each so they could pay off mortgage/debts and enjoy holidays without worry

We would move to Australia, we would buy a nice apartment on the northern beaches of Sydney as close to the beach as possible.
@FutureDays can you get this campaign into the national press . This changes my view of the National Trust . How can they go against the terms of a will ? Is it legal .
I'd imagine it's legal otherwise they wouldn't be doing it, but morally it feels wrong not just for going against the reason it was left to them, but that it contradicts what they claim to be working for and the amount of wildlife that will lose their home.

Like you it has really made me think differently about them.
The team involved have had a little publicity in the local paper, but nothing bigger.

I would invest the money and retire asap.

If we are talking many millions
Give up work
Buy a property in it's own grounds not far from where I live.

A much bigger greenhouse than the one I have although 10 x 8 isn't small.
Have fresh bedding daily and employ someone to change the bed as I hate battling with the duvet and cover.
A new car.
My parents own their house and would not move for anything, do not go on holidays and are happy with their cars.
Buy my sister a house and a car.
Buy my partner his own house and enough money to live on as I prefer living on my own.
Donate to local Cats Protection and donate to local Girl Guiding so they can upgrade their camp holiday/fun day place.

I'd move - too many bad memories in this house for my DC - but stay local. I'd retire and volunteer for my local cat rescue service - they could do with a full time free pair of hands. Then I'd just carry on with life as normal, the millionaire lifestyle isn't for me.

If it was a large amount Pay off our mortgage and maybe buy a new house or look at extending ours.

My mum and stepdad are very comfortable (no mortgage, large pensions and inheritance s) so I don’t think I’d need to do anything for them but I’d pay off my brothers mortgage and send my sister who is abroad some
Money.

Apart from tht id just put aside savings for our 3 kids and a uni fund each then leave what’s left until we need to use it

I’m so boring Smile
