hi.
today i have eaten:
2 slices of peanut butter on toast
2 large pieces of haddock and 2 slices of bread
a grilled cheese sandwich and 1/2 tin of soup
a tin of rice pudding and loads of jam
3/4 big bar of cadbury's

and i'm still hungry!!!
i have been eating weird amounts/binging the last few days, i've struggled with disordered eating for so many years that i am exhausted, i wouldn't mind eating so much if i wasn't so scared that i'd gain weight.
i'm 16, 5'5 and weigh about 10 stone.
the last few days have been a mix of binging and genuine hunger, and i just feel so shit about it.
people tell me i'm not fat but i feel it, and i'm scared that if i'm not right now, i will be in the future.
both my parents are severely obese.

@Teessider

I don't think 16 year old children should be on here being given advice by adults tbh. It's also an unusual place for a 16 year old to seek out

Anyway, my advise is to speak to your parents or a trusted adult you know in real life

Yes.

This doesn't read like a 16yo to me though.

obsessional-intrusive thoughts become more strong when you feeling down. dont take them as face value. dont hang on to them. let them pass by.

delilahbucket · 05/06/2021 13:04

Because what you are eating is spiking your blood sugars and when they plummet again shortly after it makes you feel hungry. Less carbs, more protein and veggies.

mybrainhertz · 05/06/2021 13:15

Honestly, go low carb. It's brilliant, your appetite just disappears and it's so much easier to resist foods.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 05/06/2021 13:38

I honestly believe that you need some professional help with this and relearn the way you look at food. Literally going back to basics.
When someone mentioned a healthy diet, your mind automatically jumped to weight loss diets like keto and ideal diets. The poster meant a healthy, balanced diet like the eat well plate.

The issue is not that your diet is crap, the issue is that it's not enough.. not enough to fill you up, not enough nutrients etc.

You say you're too lazy to cook, but I think you should explore that more. Are you actually lazy, or do you find the choices and option overwhelming, worry about making "good" choices, overanalyse everything etc, that in the end it's just not worth it and you go for the easy, already there option. It can also be why you're more "carefree" with friends or at your boyfriend's house. The responsibility lies on someone else.

There are many things to unpick in your posts(relationship with parents, their own issues and relationships with food, what other issues you might have that you needed counselling for , the obsessive behaviours etc). This is why I think you need targeted and professional support. We can't fix all these for you, and neither can you love. It's not that easy. These are all symptoms, not a cause .

I've noticed with myself if I eat junk food I am constantly hungry. I can't stop eating. Anything and everything even if I've already had a bag of crisps I'll just have another then a third.
But, here is the really odd thing. I can have a lean turkey and vegetable stir fry (no noodles or sauce) with a dash of soy sauce and I don't crave anything else to eat until lunch the next day.
All I can conclude is ghat the human body wants nutrition and if it doesn't get the vitamins and minerals it wants when you eat it just makes you graze again. Or it could be a load of crap and all the carbs are making your blood sugar levels go all over the place and when you crash you just need more energy from quick release carbs again. Then you just get stuck in the high/low blood sugar cycle.

Looking at your other posts, you have a 5 month old baby, if you are breatfeeding, then you will be hungry

How much sleep are you getting? Since you have a young baby, I would imagine you aren’t sleeping much. I find that lack of sufficient sleep can lead to overeating.

You sound like you need some support with your disordered eating and to help you find ways to feel in control of your diet.

Agree that too many carbs and sugar will be making it worse. If you crave sweet things, can you swap out for sweeter tasting vegetables? Sweet cherry tomatoes, carrots, peppers, beetroot, peas. Or just fruit, but preferably the high water lower sugar types like berries.

I like you have a tendency to gorge. I find I can satisfy the urge with a punnet of strawberries and it's far fewer calories than a packet of cookies.
