Forgive me if this has been a topic of discussion in the past but following on from a recent thread in the for sale section of MN I was wondering what others thought about this.

It makes me so cross on the for sale board saying "will only sell to or prefer to sell to regular MN" I can understand they don't want any funny business as there has been the odd scammer on here ripping people off, but it puts newer members off asking anything in fear that they will get shunned! And even if you haven't just joined - when is it exactly does one become a "regular" MN?

I have come on here daily for approx 7 months now.... Although I haven't posted on all of the talk boards I have certainly posted on a few in the past and often browse topics similar to ones I may be experienceing at the present for advice. I mainly buy off the for sale board and have sold a couple of bits as well.

I feel there is to much cliqiness amongst the "regulars" which puts off some mums from ever posting.

Eww! Ruby what was the pic it came up blank?! Or is it invisible

ScottishMummy · 19/11/2007 18:55

"kate and mate",

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2007 18:59

I saw the thread about 12 buggies too - I have to say I wanted to know where she kept them as well - and what the 'personal reasons' for selling them were - is that shallow of me? Or just plain nosy

VictorianSqualor · 19/11/2007 19:05

Maybe we should ask?

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2007 19:09

that's a good plan vs - i don't think that will in any way provoke an adverse reaction or indeed a comment that i should go boil my head whilst she gets on with selling the international buggy mountain of the western world!

or to put it another way - you ask if you like - i'm nowhere near brave enough.

What i'm also puzzled about is why the seller would swap for other buggies - surely that doesn't help in her mission to debug?

lulumama · 19/11/2007 19:10

i would like to see the international birthing partners reformed, is it not your turn Watling?

VictorianSqualor · 19/11/2007 19:13

Ok, I'm donning my protective clothing, If I never come back I may have just namechanged so as not to incur their wrath

What is the international birthing partners thingymajiggy?

RubySlippers · 19/11/2007 19:14

i am rubbish at links
that scottishmummy

perhaps MN should be divided into people who can do links and people who can't

and then newbies who can't or can

and oldies who can't or can

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2007 19:14

oh vs - you are asking all the good questions tonight - i want to know that as well!

WatsInSantasSack · 19/11/2007 19:16

lulu

Wash your mouth out!!

RubySlippers · 19/11/2007 19:16

thanks that should read!

ScottishMummy · 19/11/2007 19:17

took me ages to master the links thingy now i overcompensate/show off so chuffed i am

WatsInSantasSack · 19/11/2007 19:18

Vs the international birthing partners is the name i gave to a group of us including lulu who were with santasmissy when she was trying to keep her labour going. Some members are from the uk, one from germany, one from France and i am from Ireland. It was such a nice thread!

VictorianSqualor · 19/11/2007 19:19

overcompensate/show off?

I just asked about the buggies, and feel really mean now

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2007 19:20

i see - what happened in the end then

VictorianSqualor · 19/11/2007 19:22

I'm learning so much on this thread, I really must remember to thnk that new girl, the one with the number in her name

WatsInSantasSack · 19/11/2007 19:22

Well, she had a dd, and they all lived happily ever after! Havent spoken to her in ages so to speak, til today, we are on fb together also so it was nice to catch up a little!

EricL · 19/11/2007 19:32

I guess you can learn from all this and post on the talk-board, then you will get a trusted name for yourself i guess.

I have never been on the sale thingy myself, but if i did i suppose i would feel more comfortable buying off a name that i have seen a bit and had some banter with. It's a normal human reaction don't forget.

Turkeyandsproutsx3 · 19/11/2007 19:38

OP - I think you just make what you want of it tbh - it really isn't important in the grand scheme of things. There are a lot of mn'ers who have been on here a long time and most regular posters know their names but I wouldn't say it was a clique - they do chat to other folk and tend to have great advice. Some get narky, some send you hugs - just like rl.

(Haven't read any of the other posts LOL)

I'm a serial name changer which causes confusion and delay

Walnutshell · 19/11/2007 19:51

Turkey, please don't cause "confusion and delay". It is one of the most heinous crimes on a certain island.

As you well konw.

Turkeyandsproutsx3 · 19/11/2007 20:00

Maybe I should change my name to troublesometruck

Beetroot · 19/11/2007 20:01

Ii like the divide - it works and slowly the change comes when newbies get used to our ways

Walnutshell · 19/11/2007 20:04

Ah, now it all becomes clear Turkey. Judging by the Sodor story documentary I read to ds about half an hour ago, you are giving Mavis a bit of a hard time and I'm a bit sick of that smug git Toby.

Sort it out please.

Santasmissyontheside · 19/11/2007 20:05

Re form international birthing partners! Yeah watling its your turn. I'll give birth for you i like that bit!

lulumama · 19/11/2007 20:12

i like that bit too !
