@neroforte - get thee to a gp. You need antibiotics for urine infection. As you have been told several times previously.

I had blood in my pee - showing as a diluted pink colour on tissue and frequent need to pee. No stinging, no aches. However, I took an out of hours appointment as I was concerned last weekend and did not want to leave it until Monday.

I had a clear cut urine infection. I've been on antibiotics twice a day and within 2 days of taking them, the need to go disappeared. I've nearly finished the course and no resurgence of other symptoms.

The longer you leave it, the greater your chances of a kidney infection.

Smolgoose · 04/06/2021 13:28

Go to the doctor, or try a pharmacist OP

If you have a UTI bad enough that your peeing blood, no amount of water is going to flush it out. You need antibiotics before it turns into a kidney infection.

Do you feel unwell / have a temperature?

ArnoldJudasRimmer · 04/06/2021 13:30

I don't think there's much point in telling you to go to the GP since you aren't listening when posters are telling you blood in urine requires a GP visit ASAP. Infections left untreated are dangerous, I was recently treated for one and still advised to be mindful of sepsis symptoms in the first few days of treatment, as a precaution.

jessycake · 04/06/2021 13:33

The nurse told me that cranberry juice was just full of sugar and did nothing

AnyWhore · 04/06/2021 13:42

I am two days into ABs for a UTI and only just beginning to feel better. I too was pissing razor blades and blood. Couldn't stop shivering even though the weather has been hot.

OP if you haven't seen or spoken to a doctor, do so today. You know it makes sense.

knittingaddict · 04/06/2021 13:47

@OppsUpsSide

Have you eaten beetroot recently?
Grin

My husband did that once. Ate a lovely beetroot salad at a restaurant and was close to ringing the gp the following day.

To be fair he had good reason to panic because he had previously spent 10 years with returning bladder cancer with all the horrible treatments that involves. His first symptom was blood in his urine and a bladder infection.

I'm sure the op has a bladder infection, but that shouldn't be ignored. I once had one develop into a kidney infection and it wasn't pleasant.

knittingaddict · 04/06/2021 13:51

fgs op, go to your gp. Once you have blood in your urine it's time for some antibiotics.

Pleasegodgotosleep · 05/06/2021 08:12

Your first infection from a few weeks a ago has probably not gone away and is now flairing. You need antibiotics. Kidney infections are one if the mostly likely to cause sepsis. Ongoing infections can cause scarring. I have had surgery and ongoing antibiotics for years. Please don't mess about.

Sometimesfraught82 · 05/06/2021 08:13

Do you work out very hard?

MamaMarple · 05/06/2021 09:01

Trust me get an appointment at your doctors ASAP to get it checked! You've had it more than once now. It could be something straightforward to treat like an infection, but it could be something far more serious. I had blood in my urine early last year, just lightly pink at first. I left it and it went. A few weeks later it was there again, I thought 'mmmm, maybe I should get that checked', then it went and coronavirus came along and I didn't get it checked. It was back again 3 weeks into the first lockdown, and as everything was 'closed' I called 111 over Easter weekend as I had some flank pain too then. Calling them was completely useless at that point, they were overrun and after 3 calls and the promise a doctor would call me back no one did! So I called my doctors, hadn't realised they were actually open for calls that weekend, and they sent me for a scan the next day (as the hospital was closed to all but the most urgent needs the scanner wasn't busy!). Turned out the blood was coming from one of my kidneys and that kidney had growing in it a tumour the size of a small watermelon! It was cancerous and I had it removed 6 weeks later, and whilst waiting for the op I still occasionally had blood in my urine. At one point though the bleeding increased so much I got clots blocking my bladder and couldn't pee! Had to go to a&e to have it cleared 😳

So, although blood in your urine COULD be something simpler and easier to treat, you should ALWAYS get blood in your urine checked out by a doctor as soon as you can. Never leave it! It's usually a sign of SOMETHING and unlikely to just completely go away...

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 05/06/2021 09:11

OP I hope you’ve gone for medical help. This has gone past the point when you should have gone to a dr.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 05/06/2021 09:35

OP this is ridiculous. Stop faffing about with cranberry juice and go to the doctor. If an infection is severe enough to have you peeing blood, it is well beyond the help of cranberry juice.

You needed antibiotics days ago and by keep delaying, you are risking sepsis.

confused1974 · 05/06/2021 09:37

I had similar and saw my GP and got urine and blood test on same day (even with Covid). Honestly infections can be dangerous. You either see a doctor or stop complaining. If it turns into something serious you only have yourself to blame just remember that

Chikapu · 05/06/2021 09:51

Cranberry juice will do nothing for an infection, I really wish people would stop giving this as advice.
You need to see a doctor and get your urine tested, blood can signify something serious.

What did the blood test show?
Sometimesfraught82 · 05/06/2021 10:42

Cranberry juice can mildly alleviate mild discomfort for some infections

Aside from that - it’s just a tasty drink

justaweeone · 05/06/2021 10:50

You need to see a GP!
My Dd ended up in hospital for 4 nights with IV antibiotics when she was at uni, she was really poorly.
Now the slightest UTI she takes seriously!

confused1974 · 05/06/2021 16:29

@Sometimesfraught82 I had elevated CRP (sign of inflammation). Honestly I have an inflammatory condition so who knows but the GP decided to err on the side of caution and gave me amoxicillin - 7days and I was right again. I take drugs that suppress my immune system, an infection can be a big deal. OP really should call 111 since it's Saturday although there's a few walk in centres (I'm in London don't know outside London )
