AIBU to fucking hate my Epsom printer?

Every time a print a couple of sheets of paper I get an alert that a colour has run out. It’s cost me 10x more in ink cartridges than the fucking printer cost in the first place. I just changed the magenta so I could actually print a document (entirely in black and white, selected bw printing but it still wants the magenta), I changed the cartridge now it’s asking me to change the fucking black which I only changed last fucking week . I must have printed 4 sheets of paper max since then . I’ve been trying to override it as I don’t have time to pop to the shops to pick up another cartridge, but I’ve had to give up.

How I long for the days of just being able to whip out the cartridge, give it a shake and put it back in and you could print to your heart’s content until the paper went blank.

Mind you, the one in the office is not much better. Once the scanner lamp thingy went and it wouldn’t let you print even if you had no intention of scanning anything.

You can buy cartridges on Amazon they are about ten quid for ten, 6 coloured and 4 black, and work in my Epson printer. Saves me a fortune.

I have this one - had it a couple of years and replaced the toner a couple of times. The whole family prints to it.

After the first 12mths I switched to generic ink from refresh and have had no problems except every time I change the cartridge it shouts a warning at me that it's not an epson cartridge but you can just press ignore. I can buy a whole set of colours for less than 1 epson one.

I absolutely loath my cannon printer, and fed up with trips to Tesco for the cartridges (at least cheaper in Tesco - £32 - than WH Smith’s - same cartridge- £64, or £96 for buy one get one half price!).

Anyway a revolutionary piece of kit that has massively reduced my need to print things is a 27 inch monitor attached to my laptop. Omg I love it. I move what I need to read over onto the monitor screen and then I do the work on the laptop screen, reading from the monitor. Hardly ever need to print anything now. Won’t solve everyone’s problems but it really helped mine. I got my HP monitor for about £140.
