I saw it on a thread on MN over the past few days - definitely no longer than a week ago. It'll have been in AIBU or chat

It was a witty saying. Short. Amusing. Maybe a retort, maybe a way of describing someone a bit dense. And a couple of other poster commented on the phrase, laughing at it

But can I recall it? No. Can i remember what it was about? No. Can I remember what the thread was about? No.

Posting on the off chance you saw it too and laughed and you recall it.

Yeah. I know

Was it 'fat gammon husband' on an annoying neighbours thread? That made me giggle.

bebarkered · 01/06/2021 00:59

Two slates short of a roof?
Not the brightest light on the Christmas tree?
You make a better door than a window?
Lights are on nobody's in
Two cans short of a six-pack?
Beggars can't be choosers?
Better the devil you know?
Don't bite the hand that feeds you?
Every dog has it's day?

jetadore · 01/06/2021 00:59

Look through your browser history maybe?

"Fat gammon husband" was the one that I thought immediately (and will be using from now on).
halesie · 01/06/2021 01:21

Daft apeth perhaps? There was a thread on it, may have been more than a week ago though.

TO12T39FRQ · 01/06/2021 01:30

Ah yes, daft apeth....was it that ?

That’s my new favourite saying too! 😂
BritWifeinUSA · 01/06/2021 02:40

The only one that springs to mind from recent times that caused a stir was “carrying on like a pork chop”. It’s an Australian saying. I find it offensive, however. The whole phrase is “carrying on like a pork chop in a synagogue/at a Jewish wedding” and means “acting inappropriately”. Often shortened to just “carrying on like a pork chop”.

chickenyhead · 01/06/2021 02:42

I can remember the convo, she had to explain in at it was local

Make that always shortened. I'm Australian aunts im my 50s and I've never heard the bit about the synagogue added. A bit of googling tells me it's probably derivative. Certainly not considered offensive here and was a phrase my Jewish ex husband was very fond of (then again he was found of pork chops too)
Maverick101 · 01/06/2021 02:53

And I'm, not aunts im

Maverick101 · 01/06/2021 02:54

And fond, not found. DYAC

To which the response was: Well, he's had a few goes round the cooker, hasnt he?

KitNCaboodle · 01/06/2021 04:49

I think I remember the thread too. Was it similar to “as useful as tits on fish”?

joystir59 · 01/06/2021 05:06

tcjotm · 01/06/2021 05:09

But I’d be happy to learn more expressions if I’m wrong 😂

Could you look in your browser history for the approximate time you remember seeing it?

Takemetothebar · 01/06/2021 06:26

There were some good ones on the Dominic Cummings attraction thread, and the other one about his statements.....
