AIBU to like summer?

There is already a thread for summer haters so I thought I would start one for summer lovers.

I love summer because:

I don't have to wear several layers to leave the house.
No need for central heating.
My garden looks nice.
Long, light evenings.
Being able to line dry my washing.
I can wear my summer clothes and go barefoot.
I suffer from SAD.
It never gets stupidly hot where I live (it got up to 20 degrees here today).

In the UK summer is by far the best season. The feeling of sun on bare flesh and how it almost instantly soothes aches and pains. Who would ever choose a season with colder temperatures and more wind and rain. I wish we could have 75% summer then a maximum 25% cold snap to kill the bugs.

Sort of agree! ^ Summer from early March to late October would do me. I like the Autumn, but HATE the winter. (Apart from the last 3 weeks of December.) Dark, cold, grim, miserable, hardly any daylight, nothing grows, no flowers, no butterflies and bees, no hedgehogs. Nothing. Makes me feel low. Summer makes me feel HIGH!

“ But your position is kind of the default, OP

I’m not so sure @GhostCurry. There are always loads of I hate summer threads on mumsnet. I refrained from posting on most of them this time, which is why I started an I love summer thread instead.”

But the reason that the “I hate summer” threads exist is because this is one of the only places people can say they dislike summer. Because the rest of society, advertising, colleagues etc are generally banging on about summer and how great it is/will be.

Generally one bothers making “I love summer” threads because it’s the default position 🤷🏽‍♀️

I love summer. It looks like we're going back to cooler weather and rain again soon though 😫. The last 2 summers have been mostly dismal washouts and winter is just depressing so I'm hoping any bad weather is short lived. I feel more energetic, less achy and love not having to wear stifling layers of clothing. Everything just feels more free and happy. And the kids sleep so much better too, winter bedtimes are far harder. It's a 👍🏻 from me.
