AIBU to like summer?

There is already a thread for summer haters so I thought I would start one for summer lovers.

I love summer because:

I don't have to wear several layers to leave the house.
No need for central heating.
My garden looks nice.
Long, light evenings.
Being able to line dry my washing.
I can wear my summer clothes and go barefoot.
I suffer from SAD.
It never gets stupidly hot where I live (it got up to 20 degrees here today).

YANBU, you're just wrong WinkGrin

UrbanRambler · 01/06/2021 20:43

@Dustyhedge

I’ve been off today and it’s been lovely. This is about the max temperature I like though and I’m not looking forward to working in the heat tomorrow. I’d quite like a constant 24-25 degrees with rain at night time only. I think that would be lovely.
Yes, warm sunny weather is lovely, anything between 20 and 24C is fine for me, pleasantly warm but not boiling hot.

I'm not keen on July, as we often get very humid nights and heatwaves down here (Hampshire), but I've loved the last few days.

ChubbyMsSunshine · 01/06/2021 20:49

I love summer because of the light! It's light in the morning, light until late in the evening, it's glorious!
And you don't have to wear lots of layers as it's warm (sometimes even actually hot!).
And it rains less.
And most people are genuinely happier.
And it's my birthday.
And plants and trees come alive.

Yes, there are blisters and chub rub and you get sweaty but who cares when everything else is so much nicer? I just love it.

Hate hate hate winter. Urgh.

RampantIvy · 01/06/2021 20:50

I find that my favourite temperature is low to mid twenties. Today it was 22 degrees and perfect.

I WFH now and don't have a commute on public transport, so that isn't an issue for me. Sultry nights are very rare here as well.

Oh I am with you! I absolutely love the summer. We ran three summers pretty much back to back before (UK-NZ-UK) and it was glorious.
I have chronic conditions which cause me a lot of pain and the heat helps.
Summer clothes are nicer.
Summer events are always much more fun.
I adore the light mornings and light evenings.
Swimming in the sea, or the lakes, or the river... any swimming!
Beer gardens are king.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 01/06/2021 20:56

I looooove summer!

I have three portable fans for when it gets a bit sticky in the office. It's so much easier to cool down than it is to warm up too; there's no horrible drowsy feeling in the warmth either (when all you want to do is hibernate under a fluffy blanket). We will probably have AC wars in the office though.

I'm currently sitting in my garden. It's cooling down now but it's so lovely for my teeth not to be chattering.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 01/06/2021 20:56

Love summer, hate the bugs though. Much rather be hot than cold.

Pinkylemons · 01/06/2021 20:57

I love sumner. I could happily never have the other three seasons ever again. There is nothing I don’t like about it.

ineedaholidayandwine · 01/06/2021 20:59

Bloody love summer 😀

GrouchyKiwi · 01/06/2021 21:02

I voted YABU because Summer is the worst. I hate being hot. I extra hate hot days in Scotland because I didn't move here to be warm.

Spring is lovely, however.

But of course YANBU really. Just wrong, as PP said. Wink You're allowed to have your preferences, even if they are wrong.

Holly60 · 01/06/2021 21:14

I love summer!!

LadyCatStark · 01/06/2021 21:15

I love summer so much 🥰. I’m also a fellow SAD sufferer.

ilovesooty · 01/06/2021 21:18

@DeathStare

I adore summer. If I could I'd live somewhere where it is always summer.
So would I.
Branleuse · 01/06/2021 21:23

I love Summer. Especially early summer, full of promise and things to look forward to. Warm weather, beautiful flowers in the countryside, blue skies. light evenings, beaches.

I do start to grumble when it gets above 30 degrees if I cant get to a beach, but in general, im in my element once the sun comes out

Badgerstmary · 01/06/2021 21:26

I love Summer. When the sun is out I definitely smile more. I love wearing less clothes, having bare feet, the doors all open, laying on the grass reading, chilling in the kids pool, BBQ’s & salads, swimming in the sea, sunbathing on the beach........I love Summer.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 01/06/2021 21:27

I do really love summer too. Getting dressed in the morning is so much easier!

Mind you I like all seasons except the second half of winter.

RampantIvy · 01/06/2021 22:10

Thank you everyone for your posts. I was beginning to think I was the only mumsnetter who didn't hate summer Grin

Bloody love it, I feel so good after this lovely long, sunny weekend!

Mmmmdanone · 01/06/2021 22:21

I love summer! Long nights, sitting in the sun with a glass of wine, feeling like you have more time to do stuff. Absolutely adore summer 🥰

userxx · 01/06/2021 22:23

Another lover here. I have so much more energy in the summer.

VetOnCall · 01/06/2021 23:06

Summer is the best, there's nothing I don't love about it. I love spring too because it means summer is coming. I spend as much of my time outdoors as I can so spring and summer with all their light and warmth and life just make me happy.

JesusIsAnyNameFree · 01/06/2021 23:11

Another reason to hate summer; my toberlone is a smushy mess. And Amazon won't sell much of the chocolate on their website until October. Fucking sun.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE summer. This year has been so shit so far (weather-wise,) so this little bout of hot sunny weather is VERY welcome.
