Is it warm enough to play at the beach with a toddler yet? :)

Not sure what you mean ... whether it's "warm enough" is up to you. We would happily play on the beach with a toddler in winter.

Penistoe · 30/05/2021 11:07

It was 20here yesterday and the beaches were packed. You don’t need to go swimming. If you would sit in your garden then you can sit on the beach!

cupsofcoffee · 30/05/2021 11:07

People have been going to our local beach on sunny days since March. There were people swimming yesterday!

ApolloandDaphne · 30/05/2021 11:08

Any day is good for a day at the beach with a toddler.

Endlesscleaning · 30/05/2021 11:09

The beaches were busy yesterday near me, but most of the DC were wearing long sleeves and paddling, not swimming.

cookiecreampie · 30/05/2021 11:09

Yes it's fine. If you would go out somewhere like a park, then why not a beach?

Bairnsmum05 · 30/05/2021 11:09

Depends what country you live in 🤷‍♀️ roasting here at 22 degrees in Scotland and def ok for the beach.

Sparklingbrook · 30/05/2021 11:11

Here in Worcestershire I don't know the temperature but I am in a t shirt outside and I'm cold. Sad

Ohdofuckofdear · 30/05/2021 11:12

I think it is,it's gorgeous where we are(were in the SE)I'm planning on pottering around in the garden today and planting out the tons of plants I treated myself too.

We're off on holiday(in the UK) next week and if the weather's like todays were planning on spending a good few days on the different beaches.

Velvetbee · 30/05/2021 11:14

By the look of the south-bound M3 this weekend, everybody is heading to the beach.

happytoday73 · 30/05/2021 11:16

Considering the 150minutw delay on m5 yesterday.... Yes people are hitting the beach

Crazycakelady17 · 30/05/2021 11:23

It’s lovely here today but my DC will have to make do with the sandpit and tiny paddling pool I’m. It venturing out

mayflower21 · 30/05/2021 11:25

Thanks all for your replies. Yes I meant is it warm enough to swim yet? Is the sand hot enough to lie down on it? :) Of course it depends on a one's preference/tolerance to cold water... was just wondering what most people thought. As I can't bear when the water is too cold

Get there really early if you do go. The beaches here are absolutely rammed as are the roads leading to them.

inappropriateraspberry · 30/05/2021 11:31

I doubt the sea will be warm enough to swim in - it rarely is! We went to the beach the other weekend (Cornwall), our toddler was shivering and we didn't stay long. Went a few miles inland to a park and it was lovely! There's often a fresh breeze at the beach that can make it cooler.
I'd have a back up plan in case it's too cool.

RoseMartha · 30/05/2021 11:35

Yesterday was, but nippy wind today. (South East ).
Tomorrow and Tuesday looks more promising for sitting on a beach.
Have you got a tent or windbreak as they help

MrsAudreyAlfredRobertsOBEHmm · 30/05/2021 11:35

The sea won't be warm enough for most people to swim in yet, paddling in the shallow will be OK though
Have fun

KingdomScrolls · 30/05/2021 11:35

We live by the beach and take two year old DS there regularly. Clothes just need to suit weather

ChocOrange1 · 30/05/2021 11:41

Of course it is, we took ours to the beach in March you just have to bring the right clothing

Cushionsnotpillows · 30/05/2021 11:45

Location would be helpful OP. Where I am right now, you'd need an industrial wetsuit or you'd be dead in 10 minutes Grin

DipSwimSwoosh · 30/05/2021 11:46

Any day is a beach day in my book.

Chipsahoy · 30/05/2021 11:47

We were at the beach last week (Northumberland), grey skies and rain on and off. Glorious it was. Toddler as older kids loved it. Didn’t stop them legging it into the sea and bringing half the sand from the beach home with them Hmm

😂🙈 we were thinking of driving somewhere like Camber sands

I wouldn’t swim at camber sands. Dodgy currents and an east wind make it cold and not that safe IMO.

If you were further south west I’d say yes with bells on. Lots of people swimming on Cornwall’s south coast this weekend.

I’d not go in on the Cornish north coast without a wetsuit though until July.

RoseMartha · 30/05/2021 15:24

Camber sands will be packed this weekend.

The Sussex stoney at high tide sand at low better option.
