New boss or £5k pa pay rise

I’m just interested. I went to an smt conference a few years ago that referenced a study (sorry I can’t reference/evidence it) that said the vast majority of people would rather have a new boss than a 5k pay rise.
Intrigued to know how realistic that is- I’d pay more than that not to have to work for some of my pretty bosses. But equally I’d be horrified if my staff felt the way I do.
I’m wondering if it’s an industry thing or if I’m done with my current job?
Long story short would you rather a £5k pay rise or a new boss please?
If voting is on
Yabu- I love my boss I don’t want £5k
Yanbu- for an extra £5k I’ll put up with it
Anything’s in between will need comments! Thanks loads (and yes I’m struggling with my boss at the moment, hence the question)!

I'd take the new boss even if the money was £10k. Horrible two faced cow she is. Had the opportunity to leave earlier this year, and am only staying for a bit longer as the cow is going on maternity leave. Unsure whether I will stay when she returns. Would be a great job without her.

This is probably the only time I would have answered in favour of the £5k. Which says a lot about some former bosses I have had.

I'm confused as your post says either a new boss OR a £5k pay increase, but the voting is different?

Either way, I'd always go with the pay increase Smile

The Voting doesn't cover your question

New boss please

Merryoldgoat · 26/05/2021 23:22

The voting doesn’t work.

I assume it’s get £5k raise but keep current boss or same salary but new boss.

I’ll take the £5k - my boss and I get on great.

I have two bosses and both are great. I think I would take the 5 k and pay them to stay. This might be a joke, but one is actually due to decide if she will be our boss for another 3 years and we are praying she stays. If we gave her the 5k she would only give it back to the whole team.

Mine's not bad but I've had bad one's in the past if I was offered a 5k raise I would take it, stick the job out for a year to 18 months longer and then apply to jobs on an equivalent wage level til I got one
