To think saying someone ‘needs a good slapping’ is wrong?

Do you think that if someone annoys you for some reason that it’s okay to say ‘they need a good slapping’?

I don’t really think this sort of language should be seen as okay and passed off as just something people say, but I know some people feel differently. So just wondering if I’m in the minority.

No worries. Dog lover here. I have dogs that are spoilt rotten and centre of our world so completely get your anger for people like that.

Thank you . Basically people that mistreat animals have deep issues that I think could manifest to mistreating humans. It’s basic bullying and I hate it so much.I try to avoid reading these things as they prey on my mind for weeks. Dead animals on the roads is the same for me too, I find it hard to cope with. Animals are a gift to us and should be treated with as much respect as humans, and helped more in most cases as life can be so hard for them 💐

I hear it as shorthand for 'they are very arrogant and need taking down a peg or two.'

'They need a slap' is not a threat. Nobody is saying that they will slap someone. But do they need a metaphorical slap in the face, yes they do.

As someone who was slapped about a lot when I was growing up, yes I do.

I hope that isn’t a trauma response, that level of self admonishment isn’t healthy.
