Oh crap I fancy my new boss

I have a huge crush on my new boss. I’m like a bloody teenager! He’s a lovely man and we get on very well which makes it’s worse.
We have to work really closely together and although I am very professional in front of him, I am finding myself daydreaming about him and smiling like an idiot. FML!

Aibu to quit my job immediately out of embarrassment?

Please tell me I’ll get over this soon. I am happily married and this has completely taken me by surprise.

@WorraLiberty

Is there something in the water or is it lockdown boredom that's making so many MNetters have a work crush?

This is about the 3rd thread this week, although the last two got deleted. Even before that there was 1 or 2 threads per week.

Exactly what I said earlier. This same thread pops up several times a month. I don't know what the poster gets out of it to be honest. I predict this one will go 'pooof' with a deletion message from mumsnet before the end of the day, saying 'sorry folks...... ' (and so on and so on.......)

Controversial idea, but you could tell your husband?

Depends on the sort of relationship you have and how secure he is, but it’s what we do.

Kind of, ‘Oh my god I’ve got a right crush on Alan at work.’ It kind of puts it in the light, we have a bit of a giggle about it and it takes all the danger and excitement away.

Our mantra is ‘you’re married, not dead.’ Of course you’re going to find people attractive. You’re just not going to do anything about it because you’re happily married, too.

@HmmmmmmInteresting

The walk thread was so cringe that I'm actually glad it was a troll 😂
Oh no!! I was so invested in reading that one

🤥🤥🤥🤥 what is wrong with people!!! What a bizarre thing to make up!

OP - I totally get this, but am always reminded of that sage old proverb "don't shit where you eat", especially if you love your job!

StopSayingDueDiligence · 22/05/2021 10:14

This happened with me, years ago but with a friends husband.
I avoided him like the plague because I just felt so guilty. I've never fancied someone's bloody spouse before (or since, thankfully!).
Anyway after a few months the feeling faded to nothing and now I don't fancy him whatsoever. They are just a really lovely family and good friends.

Hopefully it will pass.

I had this with a contractor at work. Totally unexpected. I quietly enjoyed it for about a week and then got a grip - not literally.

Omg 😆

Oh the walk thread was so cringe and so fake but we were all enjoying it, was really keen to see where it was leading too, always annoyed that people do running to the admins for deletion!

I know! It wasn’t harming anyone, it was a fun read so was gutted when it disappeared. 🤣

@littlepattilou

To be honest I’ve got quite a lot out of the thread just seeing it written down and feeling a bit stupid for feeling like this.
I think it has helped me get a grip seeing it written down.

Please do report me to
MN if you think I’m a troll!

I'm glad to see you have got a grip as workplace relationships are a bad idea, especially with a boss.

Totallyspies · 22/05/2021 21:38

I never wanted a relationship with him and that was never an option. I have never and would never be unfaithful to dh.
