Came home to an Avon catalogue on the doormat. I didn't ask for it.

It has a note telling me to leave it our for collection on Sunday afternoon. The actual wording is "Leave this catalogue out on your doorstep for collection on Sunday afternoon EVEN IF YOU DONT WANT TO PLACE AN ORDER".
We're going away this weekend so I don't want to put it out tomorrow morning and have it lying there advertising the fact that we're not at home until Sunday afternoon.
The note says that if I can't put it out on Sunday afternoon I can call the person and arrange another time to collect it.

AIBU to just chuck it? I didn't ask for it, I don't want to phone a stranger up and arrange for her to collect it at a different time. Or will she come knocking on my door at some other random time looking for it? How long do I have to keep it lying around my house in case she comes back for it?

And who does she actually think she is to drop this off at my house then tell me in capital letters what to do with it?

And finally, why has this pissed me off out of all proportion

Just a catalogue outside especially as some are not put out at correct days would not make a difference to a burglar which by the ways is dropping like a stone in numbers because it is easier to con people on the internet by scams

Please consider we are all just trying to make a living but if not interested in Avon just return book and politely decline not waste my money by throwing in recycling or rubbish if returned it will be used more times and be better use of resources to help save your kids future

You’re on a hiding to nothing trying to make a living from selling Avon @Avonismyjob. Gone are the days when it was direct selling; every ‘Avon Lady’ had a territory, there was less choice product wise and job wise, no big retailers with competitive pricing annd massive choice (like supermarkets selling cosmetics etc) and no internet. That’s why Avon went down the MLM route; no need to employ people properly and the benefits to Avon of recruiting everyone, even if they are all living in the same street, is obvious. It’s also obvious why this means Avon reps are usually out of pocket over all. Fine if you’re happy being a customer but not fine if you are hoping to make a profit for the time you spend on it.

Avon changes the prices, packaging and promotions all the time leaving Facebook marketplace groaning under the weight of obsolete Avon product for sale by people desperate to claw something back AND they make you pay for the catalogue. How much product do you have to shift to make a clear profit of £100 a month, every month?

The problem with putting something through someone’s letterbox which has not been requested is that once it’s on their property what is better for you isn’t a factor. It’s essentially an intrusion into someone’s home and then asking them to do you a favour by returning the catalogue. I think this switches more people off than it gains random customers.

The future of any children who have parents caught in MLM like Avon is in jeopardy. As for holding Avon up as ethical in the Green sense or on the animal cruelty front, best not go there.

Don’t bin it. People do Avon to scrape a few quid together and they have to pay for each catalogue.

Not OPs problem. There's another way to "scrape a few quid together" its called getting a job.
