Anyone else getting annoyed with anti covid vaccine comments?

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion and free speech etc but I am becoming increasingly annoyed with people referencing those who have had the vaccine as ‘sheep’ or ‘brain washed’.
The Pfizer and AZ jabs arent completely new technology, it’s not like they have even created from scratch... and is there anything actually in this vaccines that may cause an alarm for a concern, I don’t think so

Most people are gladly accepting offers of vaccination when they're offered. Anti vaxxers have always existed.

PurpleDaisies · 21/05/2021 11:51

This thread is likely to have the opposite effect to what you want. It’s going to be a bat(shit) signal to vaccine sceptics to turn up.

vodkaredbullgirl · 21/05/2021 11:54

Biscuit Brew Smile

Schmatte · 21/05/2021 11:56

The people who get it aren't all sheep, the people who don't get it aren't all batshit. Just do what you prefer.

Igglepiggle3 · 21/05/2021 11:58

What annoys me about these people maybe the comments about the vaccines is that they probably have had all other vaccines.
I’ve had both my jabs now but sick of hearing the comments. It’s funny as people who are pro the vaccine don’t make any derogatory comments to them (not that I’ve heard anyway)
Just don’t know why these people feel the need to make the comments and put people down

What are the emojis for @vodkaredbullgirl I take it you are anti Vax Hmm

I agree with this. Nobody should be forced or coerced either way and other people's choices for themselves should be respected.

Somethingsnappy · 21/05/2021 12:01

Yes, comments like that are ridiculous. But so are comments that describe people as morons or idiots if they have any hesitations or concerns over it. The whole thing is so divisive and in a nasty way too.

cronk23 · 21/05/2021 12:02

I think this works both ways. Anyone who dares have a different opinion is labelled as an anti vaxxer, an excellent example on this thread by the OP. Also although mRNA vaccines have been produced prior to covid its worth noting that they haven't been approved for license, Pfizer and Moderna are the only ones.

XenoBitch · 21/05/2021 12:03

What is annoying that anyone who has anxiety about a particular vaccine, or is hesitant for whatever reason, is labelled anti-vax.
I have seen horrid comments from both sides. It is a private medical decision.

Igglepiggle3 · 21/05/2021 12:04

Totally agree - it’s people’s choice but o don’t like the comments either way. People should be able to make their own decision without having spiteful comments. I’m just finding the people who do t want to have the vaccine are more vocal. It’s fine jf they don’t want it but don’t call me ‘brainwashed’ in the process.

OP posts:
vodkaredbullgirl · 21/05/2021 12:05

No, had all my vaccines.

Just waiting for the backlash.

Igglepiggle3 · 21/05/2021 12:06

@XenoBitch yes agree - I for sure was a little hesitant at first but I did some research. However I was probably only hesitant in the first place because of the comments from people who are anti Vax !

My experience has been the opposite - I've seen more vitriol and mudslinging towards those that choose not to have the vaccine rather than the other way around.

Anyone who doesn't want the vaccine with an ounce of sense will just quietly decline it without announcing it to all and sundry.

I also think the term anti-vaxx is very overused. Yes, there are some highly vocal and politicised people to whom it reasonably applies, but I hate they way that it's used - ostensibly as a slur - against anybody who makes the personal decision that they don't want it.

I don't drink alcohol - don't see the fascination at all, all I see are a boatload of negatives with no particular benefits; so it's a No from me - for me - but I'm in no way badmouthing, criticising or trying to persuade the people who make the opposite choice - for them. I'm not an 'anti-alcoholer', just like those who like to drink sensibly aren't raging drunkards.

Igglepiggle3 · 21/05/2021 12:10

@LoveYourself29 it’s difficult to ignore when you have people saying it directly to you!

pointythings · 21/05/2021 12:10

I just wish the people who are opposed to COVID vaccines would be more honest. I'm so tired of constantly hearing that 'it's an experimental vaccine because it's being monitored until 2023'. 'It's been rushed through', 'Big Pharma'. What's worse is that this nonsense is usually coupled with comments minimising how serious COVID can be, failing to understand that a small % of people hospitalised actually equates to a very large number of people hospitalised, misrepresenting the death rates, misrepresenting how COVID death statistics are calculated...

If vaccine hesitant people just said 'I'm not happy to do it' and left out all the misinformation, that would be a start.

beguilingeyes · 21/05/2021 12:11

I had a woman phone up yesterday and she'd had one dose of the AZ and had a cough afterwards. She was convinced that the vaccine has given her lung cancer (?!) and demanded that she had the Pfizer for her second one. She would not accept that they can't be mixed.

The hysteria in the media is not doing anyone any favours.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 21/05/2021 12:11

x-posted with others there.

Igglepiggle3 · 21/05/2021 12:14

Exactly @pointythings - how can the AZ be an experimental vaccine when it is ‘old technology’?
Ok the MRNA is newer but as been studied for years. And Big pharma - some of these vaccines are non profitable. Totally agree with your last point too

OP posts:
CoalTit · 21/05/2021 12:14

...people referencing those who have had the vaccine as ‘sheep’ or ‘brain washed’.
I agree that that is nasty and a very good way not to change anyone's mind.
The Pfizer and AZ jabs arent completely new technology, it’s not like they have even created from scratch... and is there anything actually in this vaccines that may cause an alarm for a concern, I don’t think so
Whether you're right or wrong, it doesn't excuse the name-calling you refer to above.

Igglepiggle3 · 21/05/2021 12:17

Don’t get me wrong @CoalTit I’m no scientist so don’t know the full ingredients for these jabs - but I haven’t heard anyone say ‘I am not getting the vaccine because there is x ingredient in it’
All vaccines contain some elements of ingredients that some people are opposed to hence anti Vax people but I don’t people the covid vaccines are particularly any worse.

OP posts:
XenoBitch · 21/05/2021 12:18

If vaccine hesitant people just said 'I'm not happy to do it' and left out all the misinformation, that would be a start

When some says they wont be having the vaccine, several posters jump on them demanding to know why.... and then judging them for it.
In another thread, I said I wont be having it. Someone asked me if it was because "of the micro-chip".
