And what did you think of the outcome?
I completed one a while ago - I am an INFP and found it was scarily accurate.

Just interested to hear others’ thoughts and tell me, how does your mind work?

There was a fascinating thread on here recently about people who don’t really have an inner-monologue and the discussion about the differences in how we think was really enlightening. Would love to know how people with different personality types interpret the world around them.

ENFJ and yes I'd agree with it.

SallyCinnabon · 16/05/2021 23:29

Hi @Wherediditgo 👋🏻 another infp here. Yes it all makes sense to me I am everything it says I am (good and not so good) 🤣

Blossomtoes · 16/05/2021 23:31

@Chanjer

Campaigner ENFP/T or ENFP/A but the description sounds way more annoying than I (hope) I am Grin
Me too. I reckon it’s spot on.
Oldsu · 16/05/2021 23:32

Its a load of rubbish and has no bearing on someone's skills to do a job IMHO 30 years ago I had been made redundant, a good friend of mine who worked in the search and selection part of the business had also been made redundant, he got a job as HR manager for the company I still work with, he phoned me and told me about an opening in his new company and arranged an interview for me I had the interview with one of his colleagues and part of the interview was one of these tests, a few days later he rang me and told me I had failed the test as it showed I didn't have the right personality for the position I can still remember exactly what he said 'I don't know what you were playing at when you did the test but you start Monday'

I have had an extremely successful career with my company and was promoted to Director of Operations last year, but I wouldn't have got the a foot in door of the company if my suitability was determined only by the test.

Takemetothebar · 16/05/2021 23:33

Something we do much work with in our industry, and put a lot of stock by.

I am a Sentinal Executive:; ESTJ-A. Also a red personality in Insights terms, or a director if we are considering a behaviour or communication style.

It’s very accurate for me, and helpful. It gives me confidence in my direction, and reminds me of my weaknesses; inflexibility, fixed competitive mindsets, and a lack of ability to be patient with those who are more emotionally driven or passive than I am.

DustyMaiden · 16/05/2021 23:34

INFJ A Spot on

allofthecheese · 16/05/2021 23:36

I'm an INFP too, and it's very accurate for me. I've retaken the test at various points and I still get the same result. Really love this kind of thing, but then that's probably due to my type Grin

Takemetothebar · 16/05/2021 23:36

@Oldsu that person who didn’t want you was an idiot. These things are not designed to be used in isolation, they are used by my industry to help us understand motivators and drivers, and to coordinate teams for projects etc. Not to screen candidates!! We do good old fashioned interviewing for that.

PermanentTemporary · 16/05/2021 23:38

I can never remember which I am, I think I had a couple of slightly different ones. I read the overview and there was nothing much to disagree with in it. I couldn't see how you could actually use it for anything real, but maybe that's because I'm a [still can't remember which one].

Kakiweewee · 16/05/2021 23:39

I'm INFJ but some of it feels a bit inaccurate to me.

PermanentTemporary · 16/05/2021 23:43

ENFP- T turbulent campaigner. I don't really recognise myself in that and I'm sure I wasn't that one last time.

Chamonixshoopshoop · 16/05/2021 23:46

I found it too detailed to be astrology bull shit-Esque!
It genuinely helped me understand DH better, as we read each other’s (I’m ENTJ and he’s INTJ). I honestly argue less with him now as I feel I’ve got a better understanding of WHY he does things, so it’s all good from my perspective!

Milkywaysky · 16/05/2021 23:47

Just did this for fun - INTJ / Architect - terrifyingly accurate. Explains a few things...

Nitpickpicnic · 16/05/2021 23:47

If you like this personality profiling model, you’ll prolly love the Enneagram. While it def has implications for the public world of work, I think it’s by far more useful in navigating private relationships.

It outlines the healthy and unhealthy behaviours for each type (there are 9 types) and gives me lots of ideas for my self growth, and helping other people when they are down or stressed. I use it often in parenting, although it’s not that accurate for typing kids. Once you know a bit, it can feel like magic. I have a close friend who introduced me to it, and we have long interesting conversations about it, and how to use it for solving problems. It gives you great insight into other people’s ‘prime directives’.

Try it. There are a couple of free tests online, but worth researching the good ones. I think there’s an enneagram institute that has good free and paid ones. The paid one is long, but very worth it. Even doing that test told me a lot about myself!

irresistibleoverwhelm · 16/05/2021 23:56

I’ve done it a fair few times, including once with a practitioner; and most often come out as ENFP (though at various points I have also scored as ENTJ and ENTP). I’m usually a very strong EN and more right in the middle on both T/F and J/P.

At some points I’ve found it useful and interesting, though it doesn’t have much scientific basis. It’s a useful tool for thinking about yourself, particularly in relation to careers; it can also be useful as a interpersonal tool - as long as you don’t take it too seriously!

SwedishEdith · 16/05/2021 23:57

I just did it again and got Turbulent Logician and I don't think I've ever been that before. The IN bit is always consistent though.

stressfuljune · 17/05/2021 00:02

They are accurate in that you self report the answers so don't be surprised you agree with the results...

SmokedDuck · 17/05/2021 00:07

I think this can be kind of an interesting test, and has some correspondence with some real personality factors, but it has a pretty low scientific basis, even in psychology it's not given a ton of credibility. There are other personality tests that are have a lot more behind them.

I'm always surprised some businesses spend so much time on it, I guess it fits in well with a lot of corporate gobbledegook.

I'm an INTP, FWIW.

Thanks for this! Just did a free test and I came out as 98% type 9 which is in line with the INFP result I got. Interesting stuff!

@KnackeredHag

Thanks for the link!

MoiraQueen · 17/05/2021 00:10

Not Myers-Briggs, but years ago I did a different test, can't for the life of me think what it was called, but my MiL also took the same test through work. She was a Starter-finisher and I was a plant, the characteristics for both of us were scarily accurate.

JoBrodie · 17/05/2021 00:12

I have not done it and would refuse to do so as it has always struck me as being rather iffy and based on some fairly bonkers ideas. Just not for me: Nothing personal: The questionable Myers-Briggs test

Though from What your Myers-Briggs type says about whether you'll take the Myers-Briggs test I'd have to assume I'd probably come out as

"INTJ: “The Nerd Emperor” – Instead of taking the Myers-Briggs test, you’ll write a lengthy Medium post explaining why you refuse to take the Myers-Briggs test." ;)

A previous employer tried to get everyone to do it. Nope.

ISFJ-T; Defender

steff13 · 17/05/2021 00:14

I thought it had been largely discredited.

SuziQuatrosFatNan · 17/05/2021 00:23

I've done it in the same spirit I used to do personality quizzes in teenage magazines, years ago. Because it's the same as those. Fun, but a terrible basis for assessment or decision making.
