To think dying in a plane crash is far preferable to on a sinking ship?

Obviously I'd prefer neither, but I have friend who's wife refuses to fly so they go on a cruise every year.

I try not to think of it too much, but the thought of being on a ship as it goes down is far more distressing than a plane crash. All that time to contemplate your fate and wonder where DC are.

I returned from a skiing trip on a ferry the week before the Zeebrugge disaster. I stood next to my cousin and pointed to the 'emergency exit' and said to her something along the lines of "if there was a problem you'd never get that open to get out of here". Always been a bit antsy on ferries ever since...
Totally confident on planes, airlines learn from their mistakes - "Black Box Thinking" by Matthew Syal is a great read.

I do always take my seat on the plane and look around at all the strangers sitting all around me. Those are the people that I will be with if the plane plummets to the ground. The ones that will step all over me to get top the inflatable slides if we were over the sea.

There is a reason why I had nightmares after watching Titanic

And the idea of being a submariner just scares me

But never really been scared flying

Feeling an air crash would be more quick and painless than drowning

What about...
being in a sea plane that crashes into a boat?
Or on aircraft carrier that is hit by a plane... that is loaded with bombs
