Of course not. College isn’t just for kids who’s left school ya know.

What do you mean by 'college?'
Sixth form? College of Further Education? University College?
You need to expand your question.
Is it GCSEs at 23 or is it quantum physics at 22? Or is it Architectural college at 21? Or Agricultural College at 25?

Boxtroll · 13/05/2021 21:29

No I wouldn't.
I find people aged 16-21 don't really look that dissimilar in age to me. Probably a sign I'm getting old Grin
When I was 21 I went to college to do a dental nursing nvq one day a week. Some of the women there were 30

I’ve been told it’s unusual that one of my sons is still in college at this age. He had a lot of problems at school.

Basically, no. I'd find it unusual if a 21/22 year old was in high school.

skybluee · 13/05/2021 21:39

No, it's good he's persevered :).

Mrsjayy · 13/05/2021 21:39

Well whoever said that is talking nonsense, well done your son for sticking at his course

Maybe give the context that everyone is asking for.

My 21 year old DS was. But his sixth form time had been shot to pieces by several spells in psychiatric hospitals. And he's only now about to apply to uni. So he and his sisters (3 years younger) will probably all graduate at the same time.

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 13/05/2021 21:42

Yabu, I did my Access to Nursing in my 20s and there were older students on the course!

Micsam89 · 13/05/2021 21:48

I did my degree from ages 25-30, the final year I didn't have a job because it was full time rotations for the year. But I purposely saved money in the years prior to cover my mortage and living expenses for that year. Most students were younger but there was a good amount of mature aged students. It's fairly common in Australia.

Coldwine75 · 13/05/2021 21:52

No not at all

Ilovemaisie · 13/05/2021 21:53

There is a specific loan scheme for further education colleges - you have to be age 24 or over to be eligible.
So not unusual or weird at all.

TableFlowerss · 13/05/2021 21:54

Don’t be daft - of course not!!! I wouldn’t find it odd if a 60 year old was at college. Some people want to learn new things and it’s no ones business

3CCC · 13/05/2021 21:58

Both of my local colleges which aren't attached to schools offer university courses.

I’m just about to finish my first year at college and I’m 55 😁 I’m obviously the oldest one in my class but no one cares and I’m loving learning a new skill
