To think v few people haven't hugged their friends / families?

Apparently hugs are back from 17 May.

Aibu to think there are very very few people who have not hugged their friends / relatives for however long since the government said we last could?

I know I have. It's absurd that any government can tell us that we aren't allowed to hug our loved ones.

This is MN. No one hugs here, they all hate it, if you do it you die from Covid.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 10/05/2021 19:57

Not hugging people has been the best bit about Covid for me!

Don't be daft.
Slippy78 · 10/05/2021 19:59

I haven't.

Titsywoo · 10/05/2021 19:59

I have hugged my parents and PIL since the end of the first lockdown. My friends I hugged for the first time when we met a week ago for the first time in ages.

5zeds · 10/05/2021 19:59

I haven’t

VicSynix · 10/05/2021 19:59

In the last 14 months or whatever it is, I've hugged my OH.

Very happy not to go back to randomly hugging people, thanks.

AnnaSW1 · 10/05/2021 20:02

We haven't.

WildLadyLucy · 10/05/2021 20:04

One friend caught me by surprise by hugging me when she was drunk last summer but other than that, the only people I've been close enough to hug or even touch are DP and the kids, plus my hairdresser (did hug her obvs, but did have physical contact). I literally haven't been within a metre or more of my parents since March 2020, even though I have seen them regularly.

ifyougetthechancedoit · 10/05/2021 20:05

I haven't hugged anyone outside my household since last summer. Not had much of an opportunity to do so either, I live in part of the country where indoor mixing hasn't been allowed for over 12 of the last 14 months. So excited to be able to mix indoors from next week!!!!!!

drpet49 · 10/05/2021 20:06

YANBU- I don’t know anyone that hasn’t hugged anyone since Covid began.

JemimaMuddledUp · 10/05/2021 20:06

I haven't hugged anyone outside my bubble since early March 2020.

MadelaineMaxwell · 10/05/2021 20:07

I’ve hugged everyone as normal since last summer.

genome · 10/05/2021 20:08

Nope, the last time I hugged someone that hasn't been in or through my vagina was the 20th March 2020 at a family wedding.

QueenPaw · 10/05/2021 20:08

Nope. But then I've never hugged my parents even as a child so.. no change Grin

TheCrowening · 10/05/2021 20:12

I don’t hug people anyway, so I haven’t.

Notaroadrunner · 10/05/2021 20:13

Haven't hugged anyone outside of our household. Not in any rush to hug anyone else tbh.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 10/05/2021 20:14

I'm a 'hugger' but haven't hugged anyone outside the household.

Feelingbad2 · 10/05/2021 20:15

I’ve hugged my mum once.

I’ve hugged a friend who threw herself into my arms the first time I saw her after her mum died.

I have been too scared that I will pass something on because of the job I do.

Overdueanamechange · 10/05/2021 20:17

No hugs here either. Both my family and DHs family have been sticklers for the rules over lockdown and it paid off. Apart from family members that are students and high risk public sector workers, we have all stayed Covid free. The ones who did catch it were very careful so didn't spread it.

TimeToGoOut · 10/05/2021 20:17

Never mind hugging. We haven't even seen any of my husband's family since Christmas 2019, nor my family since August 2020. We all live in England but further apart than is possible for a day trip. My in laws live in an area where there were ongoing restrictions last summer, hence not even seeing them then sadly.

2012BestEver · 10/05/2021 20:19

I haven’t.

Dithercats · 10/05/2021 20:20

most people i know haven't hugged, or met up inside. I've not long started to have outside coffees,......i can't imagine hugging someone now as its been well over a year since i hugged a friend or family member other than my children.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 10/05/2021 20:22

I've been quite pleased that it's frowned upon to surprise someone with a hug. I live my friends and family dearly but have a huge personal space radius. I might just "be careful" a wee while longer.

ButtercupSquash · 10/05/2021 20:23

Haven’t hugged outside my household since before the first lockdown.
Not too keen on hugging friends, but I suppose we will have to start doing it again.
