Did anyone wear a different colour?
I'm only getting married in a registry office with both sets of parents as guests, nothing exciting. I don't really like white dresses 🤣 or traditions! But I do feel pressure to wear a nice white dress (even if only simple and not a traditional wedding dress!)

Dark red, not quite burgundy, crepe de chine silk.

Ooh amazing tip the poster who mentioned Pronovias - these are awesome!! www.pronovias.com/gb/cocktail-dresses/wonderland?p=1

I’m getting married soon and planning to wear deep blue. I think a redhead in winter would look lovely in a powder blue!

I wore a shell pink wedding dress.

It's your wedding you can wear whatever colour/style you want.

I wore an ice blue colour dress, it came in ivory as well for wedding dress at about £250 more , guess blue was for bridesmaid ??
But I loved ice blue colour and never wanted white as was registry and i had 2 kids and wasn't prepared to pay £500 upwards for dress either
My little bridesmaids wore white and dh and kids and my dads suits had ice blue waistcoats and ties , so I think it went quite well ( dh had no idea i was also wearing the ice blue dress )

White is so boring! I was going to wear a soft pastel colour but then crumbled and wore white but I wish I had picked something a bit more original. I do think a lot of wedding dresses look the same, brides always look lovely but how many variations of a long white gown can there be?

I think you should wear whatever colour you like, I bet people will always remember your dress!

I wore jeans to the registry office (witnesses only, no guests) and a blue sheath dress with red and orange flowers to the reception. I still have the dress and love it. I wore it several times after I wed (can’t fit in it now, though!).

I've went to a wedding where the bride wore black, another with a red dress and I wasn't able to go to a medieval themed one where the bride wore green.

I'm wearing black! Mil doesn't like that but it's my choice!

My wedding dress was a Ronald Joyce Tea length cream silk dress, trimmed with Lace and a matching Lace jacket. Very 1950s style, and l carried a Bouquet of Stargazer Lilies and pink Roses, with Tiny white Bridal wreath flowers.

I had a matching Cream Head Dress with seed pearls and sparkly Cristal edged silk flowers and leaves. It’s a classic, and still very much in vogue today.

Red is often the choice for Oriental Brides, they often have two dresses for different parts of their wedding ceremonies, most large bridal ranges include the option of ordering some of their gowns in Red for this purpose.

I wore burgundy and cream for my first (church) wedding and a gorgeous deep green dress for my second (hotel) wedding. It’s your wedding, wear what you bloody well want!

WanderleyWagon · 12/05/2021 22:28

My oldest friend wore scarlet at her wedding (also registry office) - she looked glorious!

Seriously? I think you’re taking “white” a bit literally if you think you’re giving an example of throwing that tradition to the wind here.

I wore dark green, my bridesmaid wore white. One of my SIL wore a navy wedding dress, it was truly the most beautiful colour against her pale skin.
